"Vehicles four model-years old and newer (model-years 2001-2004, for registrations due after 1/1/2004 ) are not required to have a biennial (every other year) Smog Check performed until their fifth year."

NOTE that if you live in one of these counties... you do not get the 5 year rule

i also discovered.. when they check the car.. the max idle in CA for cars made from 91 up .. is 1100 rpm.. which shouldnt be a prob.. but anyone getting flashed when it is available should be aware of that.

I'll make this easy for you:
Buy a car in June 2001 -
FIRST YEAR = 2001 - 2002
SECOND YEAR = 2002 - 2003
THIRD YEAR = 2003 - 2004
FOURTH YEAR = 2004 - 2005

To register for your FIFTH year of the car, you SMOG at the end of the FOURTH year and beginning of the FIFTH year, which is June 2005... FOUR years after you purchased the car in June 2001. 4 years AFTER the purchase of the car.

Yes the FS takes out the second cat. I think you have to cut right before the second cat with a pipe cutter, then use the brackets supplied with the FS exhaust to clamp on the new system.

And for all the smog talk, HAHA im not due in till 2010!

i was thinking of going with FS exh. but i dont wanna go illegal
emission tests are once every year in NY state and since i'll cut the stock parts it's gonna be a pain to put the stock back in if possible at all

correct me if i'm wrong

Yeah since i live in Cali, i didnt want to get a system that removes the second cat, initially i was looking at the FS system. But i decided to go with trubendz cause it keeps the cat (in my sig).

Bowersdaazian, I was just looking at that guys post, how do you know he is a legit dealer of those products he mentioned? His aol name has no profile. If you know him, than nevermind, but I would be careful if you just got that link from someone else.

I live in California and I installed the FS CAI. Not legal? I got all my parts anyway.. just throw it down when I have to. But I'm a little disappointed that I don't feel any differences with power. Just more noise... anyone else experience this?

no intake is smog legal for the duratec in cali.

try resetting your computer by unplugging your battery for 15 minutes then hookign it bakc up. it iwll reset the computer and it will relearn. also, make sure you have everything intalled right, especially the MAF.

My brother installed it... he's 19 and really into cars, but his experience is next to nothing... hence my bent radiator support bar. He put the jack on it... so everythings pushed up a bit... including my hood...!!! DAMN!
