I'm looking to take my stock 130 hp ZTS up to 160 hp or so. According to the claimed added hp of some bolt-ons, this isn't hard to do and you'd only have to spend about $1,700. I want to know how much truth is in these claims and if you take the added hp of each individual bolt-on and add them together, how close to accurate would that really be? Here's some examples.

1. MAC short ram intake - claimed + 6hp

2. focus.c-f-m.com high flow cat - claimed + 4hp

3. steedafocus shorty header - claimed + 3hp

4. focus.c-f-m.com 65mm T-body - claimed + 4hp

So far, that'd be 147hp. I'm also looking to add these parts too but haven't found claims for them.

5. 9mm spark plug wires

6. Pacesetter catback

7. Focus Central flex pipe

8. focus.c-f-m.com mod chip

The mod chip alone i think would add about 10hp which would take it right up to 157hp with all the other stuff.

So i guess bottom line, how accurate is this? And what WOULD i need to do to get 160hp or so if it's not?

1. Maybe on a dyno, not in real world driving conditions.
2. Maybe, but I wonder what kind of cat it really is.
3. Yes, but who makes this header?
4. No way it's making 4hp.
5. No hp help here.
6. Very cheap cat-back, very little gains.
7. Very little gains.
8. Very small gains.

Sounds like you want 140 whp, but with these parts you're probably only looking at 120-125 at best. To get to 140, you'll need cams and cam gears too.

what? you're joking right? I'm not trying to be mean but I am just wondering if you're serious. first off, the stock zetec doesnt start off with 130 horsepower at the wheels. maybe around 108 or something. all of the products you have above seem to have correct horsepower except for the intake and the mod chip. The mod chip you are talking about is from ebay right?? the 30$ one? the only thing that it is good for is..... well..... nothing. it wont give you any horsepower, just an empty wallet. If you are looking to get to 160 horsepower without using alot of money, get a nitrous kit! (except if this thread wasn't a joke, I wouldn't reccommend one to you)

All of the level 1 one bolt ons added up will put a ZETEC at about 150hp-155hp. These mods include: intake, exhaust, TB, headers, flex pipe, cat, and UDP. 160 hp would prob. require new cams.
you guys need to clarify and learn the difference between flywheel horsepower and wheel or brake horsepower...

flywheel hp for the 2.0L Zetec is rated at 130hp, the base WHP (at the wheels) for a normal zetec is anywhere from 105-115 taking into account drivetrain loss. In order to reach your goal of 160 hp, I assume you are meaning at the flywheel so roughly 30hp increase over stock...

With all of the bolt on's including: intake, throttle body, header, flex, cat-back, UDP's, cam gears, cams, 2000 intake manifold, and a chip could put you right about 140-145 WHP with the right tuning which is roughly the same 30hp increase over stock so you could meet your 160hp flywheel goal with all the bolt-ons...

Hey thanks there Cen. Yes I was talking about flywheel hp, I should have stated that. So if I were to add an underdrive pulley set and adjustable cam sprockets to the above mentioned mods (and no that's not the p.o.s. ebay mod chip... go to the c-f-m site and see yourself) I'd probably be looking at what for flywheel hp? Like I said, I'm looking to get AROUND 160 (flywheel) hp.

there isn't even a need for cams to hit 140whp...now i sure you the torque would not be the greatest...but if you are just looking around 160...all the bolt ons and nothing more will hit that mark.

140whp
race header
2.5" flex
2.5" cat-back
SCT chip
Volant, itg, pipercross, ice-man intake
2000 manifold (ported would even be better
65mm tb
udp
cam gears
dyno tune

Flywheel hp is only used as a rating from the factory because they can dyno an engine for example.

As an enthusiast the easiest way to check your power is to use a chassis dyno. Which shows wheel hp.

You will have to get used to asking about whp since flywheel hp cannot be calculated till you know the wheel hp.

Considering 160 flywheel hp is approx 135 whp, you can get that or more using what kickn mentioned.

Alrighty... well thanks.

i dont know ANYbody that talks about hp at the flywheel, everybody i knows wants WHP because horses at the flywheel will be more than whp.

I've never seen anybody get close to 140whp with stock cams. Please show me a dyno of someone who has done this.

is the 160 max for an auto tranny flywheel or whp estimate?

iam gettin some mods done hopein for a dramatic change
