[?|] [?|] [?|] Who in the hell designed the spare tire well in the trunk of the Focus sedan? I had to help a co-worker change her tire and she didn't have a jack so i needed to fish the one out of my trunk. No issues getting it out, but judging by the threads i've seen on here quite a few of you know how much of a PITA it is to put everything back properly, oye!

Ok, done venting now.

don't hold back, tell us how you really feel. Welcome to the site and, yes, after a year of ownership, I still can't figure out how to properly set everything up in the tire well. Resorted to putting cloth in to hold the spare still so it wont rattle around back there.

Yes, other people feel my pain. HOW THE HECK DO YOU GET THE JACK BACK IN PLACE? I can't handle it. I get so mad. I try to do it once a week for the past month. I decided that once I get my 5th wheel Im making a new setup. Such a bad design for a spare.

It didn't come with that dummy jack??
Mine does. And yeah, it is pretty funky putting it all back together.

hahahahaha I loved your OYE!

NICE!! [rofl]

u gotta open the jack almost all the way til it looks like a square/diamond. took1.5 hrs to finger it out

Hah, I've NEVER had a problem, my car didn't come with a jack, or a lug wrench. I called my Stealership but they denied those items had not been in my car upon delivery. I guess they evaporated or sublimed away. I guess that's what AAA is for.

I think its a good space saving design, I've never had any problems. If you just make a note of how it looks before you take everything out, its a cakewalk to put it back together. Step 1, open scissor jack and set in tire well with the hole in the jack lever aligned with the hole in the tire well. Step 2, place spare tire over jack. Step 3, insert long screw down through the center of the wheel, the hole in the jack handle, and into the threaded hole at the bottom, tighten, and DONE. If done correctly and tightened enough it will hold the jack and the tire pretty solid, no movement at all in my trunk.

someone above nailed it. open the jack until it looks square

also, u could get a permanent marker or a spray can to outline the shape of the jack in place before u take it out the first time.
