Ooooo jsut remembered white smoke can also mean antifreeze is burning wich would be a coolant rupture somewhere in the block. Hows the Temps?

I'll check on my way to work tonight. I only live 3 miles from work though doubt that will be enough to "check the temps"

Blown Head Gasket?

That actually sounds fairly likely. Keep an eye on your Coolant LEvel If its low you may have your cause. The more I think about it didnt you say that its happening after a few miniuts of running? If so that means that it could be overheating or Coolant isnt getting to all the important bits.

sounds like a blown gasket, probably cause by all of the knock that you have been getting. your a/f's can be in the 'OK' range and you still get a ton of knock because of bad gas or the tune might have gone wack. i would suggest figuring out if it is a blown head gasket or not. if it is, then fix it and get rid of your knock, otherwise you will just be doing it again. hopefully you didn't crack anything instead of blowing a gasket. good luck man and i hope you get all of this figured out.

Ok my theory, bad gas = knock & bad A/F. New gas A/F is fixed (like now) but knocking blew the gasket allowing me to burn coolant which causes more knocking? But shows A/F as fine?

Would I have low compression if it is a blown gasket on all cylinders or one on none? I have never diagnosed a blown gasket and don't know what to really look for?

Tom you have any ideas on this?

Its hard to say what happened , A compression test may tell you something , pulling the plugs on the engine hot may see moisture on the plugs or steam from the cyl but with this type HG I doubt you will see water in oil

More then likely you lifted the head and have slight leak if it is even water , I dont know because I cant see or smell it , If you have antifreeze then you can smell that burning it has its own odor

I keep telling everyone about getting lower grade then they pay for on octane and no one seems to beleive it , it could of been you paid for 93 got 87 ran it hard and didnt see the J&S and water was getting on your o2 causing the ultra rich condition , hard to say now ,If your going to FF08 I will be glad to look it over with you but looks now that that isnt going to be happening unless you have a trailor

Tom

Damn... I didnt even think about the head lifting .... i should have since I have a few powerstroke friends that have done that.

Im burning oil and Compression is:

#1 100
#2 120
#3 115
#4 120

I paid good money to have this motor bored .007 with WISECO pistons, Im only running 10psi. I pay for good parts bought the J&S, did everything right how is this happening? The car isnt even running @ full potential Im still tuning w/TOM and its blown again?

I never did a compression before or after break in. This is my first time experience with a re-built engine I just did what the shop instructed me too.

History:
Had blow by on #3 cylinder (Stock) 10/10/07
Went in for re-build WISECO Pisons, Eagle rods ARP studs finished 01/08/08
Went 3,000 miles no boost
Showed up in NC @ Tom's shop for tuning. I brought an unfinished car Tom gave me a base tune. (First Time the car saw full boost) 03/17/08
Arrived at home car sat and waited for Same Turbo but New, new IC piping, Wideband A/F, 180 Thermo, J&S, couple Misc parts. Finished 05/19/08
Started remote tuning.....until 06/01/08 (Tom had me in the safe zone, but not finished waiting for dyno time)

Some time after that car broke down when I started this thread and now we are here.

Motor built @ 41k now @ 48k. A built motor should be able to take 10PSI hands down.

I went to "One of the best tuners"

Can't see where I have gone wrong.....

You could do a leak down test , How many miles on the new engine ? What was the compression after the break in miles

Tom
I do not have the tools to do a leak down test, can I rent them somewhere?

Or am I going to have to find a shop?

Yep, here I am fresh rebuild, custom everything and I'm burning a little oil and have low compression on one piston (#4).... about 500 miles on it.

Sometimes shit just goes wrong.

....at least your car has been running, mine has failed to even get to the running stage twice.

I'll see what I can do tomorrow.

Auto Zone, Advanced Auto ect... those places don't have leak down tester do they?

Leak down test:

Cylinders:
#1 28% loss (Rings)
#2 5% loss
#3 5% loss
#4 5% loss

I'm going after the company whom I paid 4k + to build this motor this is ridiculous.

Ouch. Who did the rebuild?
FC Customs in springfield, and it was ummm not cheap.

They said it was a 400hp motor and would last 100k

I put 250-270hp on it and it went about 500-1000 miles........[scratch]

I dont think I could get any more pissed at the moment.
