I just wanted to know if the cat-back exhaust was worth the money and/or if I will loose horsepower if I just do the exhaust and nothing else. Also, does the FC intake really give you 5hp @ wheels or is it a bunch of crap? Please help me out here.[?|]

Getting a non restrictive muffler and losing the resonator on the stock system will add hp, probably about 3 or so without removing the 2nd cat.

The intakes, FC, FS, or MM, will all actually add about 10hp to the wheels. I think FC's dyno is different.

From what I had heard the intake does a lot more for you than the exhaust. I was planning the exhaust as the last of my upgrades. For the money I think you would do better with some FC pulleys and TB's. The pulleys are supposed to give you 6-7 hp at the wheels. Probably the best bang for the buck, save for the intake.

well my magnaflow (from my old zetec) removes the second cat so it is MUCH less restictive. it prolly add about 5-7 hp. but yes an intake is probably the best bang for the buck. what is it...about 12 hp? thats not bad for $150-$190!!! thats gonna be my next mod after lowering springs [thumb]

UDP: is it hard to install?

I was thinking about buying the underdriver pulley set from newedgeperformance.com and i was reading about the installation. It looks like a lot of work to install. I know I probably could not do it. The whole engine practicaly has to be slightly lifted out of the engine bay to get to the bottom one. Does anyone know who installs this kit and how much they would charge for labor? Please help.

I don't know anyone out in NY.

udp's ar enot worth it on a duratec.

buy the cam gear tool instead and gain real power.

werd, like aero said, don't bother with udp, get the cam tool and get the balance shaft removel kit and you should be at the same cost of the udp and you'll gain more then the udp
Hey, does Walter have the balance shaft removal kit out yet? There was a lot of discussion on here a couple months ago, but it was still in development at the time. I am really curious to find out just how much HP is gained and what the vibration situation is like.

Its not out yet. Its been installed on the Touring Car for race testing, and he is also doing some other testing in a street car.
