Well, my 2003 SVTF has 101k miles. Lots of highway miles and fairly easy driving.

Until now, I have only done normal mainteanance with the exception of the following: Replaced steering pump and high pressure line at 70k miles, axle seal replaced at 100k, rear shocks and brakes at 70k and I think that's about it.

I still like the car as a daily driver but have never kept a car this long before. I'd like to keep 'er going.

Questions:

I think I probably should replace the front struts since the rear shocks have been replaced. I get some odd cupping on any tires I have installed, and the alignment is okay. Should I just use stock SVTF struts? How about springs? Any nice aftermarket kits that would lower the car just a TAD and not affect the handling and ride much?

My clutch pedal seems to engage high. Is this adjustable? Am I just lucky to be this far on the stock clutch?

I've got a hell of a rattle when I take off from a slow start. People stare. Lol. It goes away once I get going. I have a feeling it's the cat heat shield. Is there a nice aftermarket exhaust that would replace from the header back? I don't want to draw attention, just something that sounds nice.

Power steering still seems really noisy when stopped. Did I damage the pump on install? There are no leaks. Do I need to purge the air or something?

I have a timing belt and tensioner. Still deciding if I will install this or have someone do it. Anything else while this is being done? Cam seals? Etc?

Any steering bushings, bearings, or anything else that will help out? I'd like to do the struts, get a nice alignment, and have the car look, feel, and sound like a newer car. Anything that will help I would appreciate.

Any and all suggestions (besides buying a new car, I'm trying to break that habbit) are greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Robb

Eibach prokit springs to lower a tad bit more. Won't affect the alignment too much. Still align afterwards, but changes will be minimal to it.

Probably the cat head shield. Just get under the car and unbolt it. I would go with an MBRP catback exhaust. I loved it on my SVT and would go that route again if I ever buy another one. Not too loud or annoying, but gives a distinct rumble.

From what I've read, most people get new clutches at 40k. But you seem to do a lot of highway miles, so I'm sure that is why you have so many miles on it. Good to go in my opinion if not slipping.

How did you bleed the p/s pump? Just start it up and move the wheels? Fords are bad about that. You have to turn the wheels with the car off to avoid killing the pump. Then after that, start car and move wheels and bleed air.

Get someone to do the timing belt for you. SVTF is an interference motor and if someone else reputible does it and f's it up, you can hold them liable for it.

I'll check that out....

Yeah, that's all I did. Hopefully I didn't kill the pump.

Yeah, I do want to take care of the brakes. They resurfaced the rotors and put new (cheap) pads on the rear the last time I had it in, but I'd like to get new rotors and pads. Any suggestions for good, low dust, street pads? I'm not tracking this car (at all) or anything like that. 100% daily driver. How about some nice looking rotors that are decent quality?

And, I'd suggest browsing through the "Wheels, Tires, Brakes & Suspension" forums for answers to those questions.
There's a lot of good information in that area.
Thanks.
