or get gunmetal rims so u dont gotta worry about it
Or just let the brake dust collect on your wheels and never clean them. Then you will have gunmetal wheels.[:D]

Be carefull if you go that route, as they can hold in heat, especially under hard braking, emergency situations, racing, etc, etc, causing a potential brake failure.

Has anyone else tried the ceramic pads?

they are not ceramic pads u have to get, they are called metallic,,,,ford gives u cheap pads,,most makers do now,,,just look around u will see many expesive cars with the same problem,,,next u change ur pads, ask for metallic or semi to cut down on it,,,,,gunmetal rims dont work cuz i have that and it still irks me but i just hanged my pads which are way better,,,i hate ford,,love my focus

Do you know the difference in ceramic & semi-metallic pads?

i got mintex pads with hardly unnoticeable brake dust

Cuz...,
Every couple of days cleaning with a cleaner that can potentially harm your wheels(depending on type, dwell time, etc) vs. replacing with ceramic pads and only lightly rinsing and washing with car wash with the rest of the car is much easier, less time consuming, costs less, less chance of damaging the wheels(or paint) plus the advantage of your wheels not turning black by Wednesday or Thursday is a big advantage for me..., especially when you have a few weeks here and there that you may not even have time for a good wash and the wheels still look clean and shiney vs. black and dirty looking...

Just my .02:)

I'm going to try either Hawk or Mintex once my stock brakes need replacing... I'll tough it out til then. I got the SVT euro dark argent wheels and they really hide the dust better than my stock light silver ones, but I still know its there so it doesn't help! I found a bottle by Meguiars called (I think) "Hot Tires, Cool Wheels" or some play on "coolness"... it's in a bright pink/purple sort of spray bottle and it works really well. Spray it on, wait 15 seconds and hose off takes almost all of it (depending on how long since last wash, mine usually at least 2 weeks). It says safe for all wheels and it neutralizes the brake dust or whatever to get it off. I've never found a product that is actually as easy to get the dust off as it claims besides this one.
I still can't wait for my stock brakes to wear out though! Ha, how bad does that sound?

Also try Eagle One A-Z Wheel & Tire Cleaner. It's in a orange spray bottle. I usually use it twice a month. All the other times I wipe my wheels off with a soft cloth (and I get my hands dirty in the process). I just can't wait for the stock ones to wear so I can try out something better.

It happens to me too...everytime I wash my car it has an excessive amount of brake dust...those front brakes are very cheap...I use eagle one wheel cleaner to wash them..it works great
