colder weather decreases your gas mileage but i wouldnt think by that much

well i also live in tampa florida where its like 75 right now and it is only cold cold like once every 2 weeks

Hmm.... Have you done anything to it like changing the plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump, somwthing along those lines?

That would change my mileage also as soon as I put new plugs in or fuel filter and whatnot I would increase mileage.

im about to buy some new plugs and some new wires how often should i change the fuel filter i have 42k on my car

You no I'm not sure but I have heard every other oil change so prolly about every 10,000 miles.

But I have gone 40-50,000 without changing one.

Possibly run some ingector cleaner though the gas to. I have heard that is bad for the car but I have never had any problems.

well i have to change my oil im at like 5k on that just waiting for my k&n to get delivered between the oil im thinking my air filter, what is and average miles per tank for our svt's

don't forget that they also change the gasoline as well to a "winter blend" mine has unfortunetly dropped as well. i get about 200-230 now before my low fuel light comes on. down from about 280 i usually got a few months ago.

yeah i never did get that, i woulda thought the colder air woulda been more efficient? [dunno]

maybe it takes the engine longer to heat up, i dont really know why its worse in the winter

From the "To drive in the snow or not to drive in the snow, that..." thread:
Speaking of snow and cold weather, does anyone else get a lot less miles per tank in the cold
1) Reformulated gas, whether it has ethanol or not.
2) Ethanol added.

And, here's probably the biggest reason...
3) Colder air is much more dense.
^^^A. The computer sees that and has to add fuel to make up for it.
^^^B. To a lesser degree (moreso at freeway speeds) there is an increase in drag on the car due to the heavier air.
This drag isn't a huge effect, but it is enough to make a difference.

Also don't forget warming the car up, even if its just for a couple few minutes or whatever, that adds up over the week or however long that full tank last you.
