thinking old gas? i did that to my silvia when i lived in japan...that was a costly mistake.

More likely he's suspecting a gas station manager/owner selling regular as midgrade or premium. It happens a lot more than you think, especially if you live in one of the handful of states that does not require octane pump tests (like Ohio [?|])

Have you been running race gas or leaded fuel? The lead will coat the catalyst and make it unable to work properly and i imagine it could plug it up as well.

haha. . . heck no. The SVT I drive has less than 200hp [hah]

It's a long shot that it's the cat I think considering the mileage. SVTs are pretty tough cars they can take a serious beating. Everything people are saying could be a possible cause of the problem, if you're going to the Ford dealer I'm surrrrre they'll be happy to take your money...I mean help you out. And you don't need to have a high power SVT to run race gas, some people have tunes for it.
