ok first thing first. they are right, if you are buying stuff online, it all costs the same. two for a tune or "reflash" you can buy a Xcal2 from McNews or tom and they will make u a tune with it for about $400. I think your best bet would be the powerworks SC cause its able to be installed by you and you send the ECU to them and they make you a tune. thats just me though

You're not boring a Zetec out. period.

9k for a turbo kit + install = raped.

uh...as for the rest of what you said...read around some more..
&lol

ummm were does it say you cant bore a zetec out??? I must have missed that issue in focus fanatics.

I mean come on seriously?? You can bore any block out to a certian size. Goat roper i beleive was running .030 over. Most pistons you are going to buy for the zetec are going to be .007 or .020 over. The only time you can get away with stock bore is with 35-50k miles on the car if it was driven by a grandma. Anythin over 50k im getting some machine work done.

witch= rides a broom

which= which costs are you making up

Piston= car

Pisten= nothing

Please search around for a turbo kit, it will give you the hp and tq you want. Stay off ebay. You won't need pistons if you set the turbo up properly with a good tune under 230 or so hp. I wouldn't bore the zetec for power. I would bore it as part of the rebuild process.

Oh and your costs are so far off I think I'll have another giggle.

thats what i was getting at....boreing the zetec for power is usless. Boreing it because your cylindar walls are beat to [:)][:)][:)][:)] is needed.

Lets get some things straight...

As far as a turbo kit, I would never pay anywhere near $9k, not even IF I could afford it. You can buy a brand new kit and have it installed for far less than that. The same goes for either the PW or JR supecharger kits.

You were wondering about boring the Zetec and building a high horsepower N/A (non forced induction) engine. The most you will get is about 190whp. Even with extensive work. Anything over and above that, while it may be possible (with said $9k from the turbo kit above), it just isn't economical or daily driveable. It would have some wicked cams and literally limp around town.

To get near the 280whp mark that you stated, you will NEED F/I. As for the expense. But your stuff online. A tune for $1000? You can get the XcalII (flash based tuner) and a tune made for it for less than half of that. They will literally mail you the tuner with the tune already loaded. All you do is plug it in and hit "flash." If you do get F/I, you'll want to get dyno tuned eventually, but this is a cheap alternative.

Also, as someone else alreday sort of pointed out, the pistons you were looking at are built for the Duratec, and not the Zetec. They will not work in a Zetec.

9k is not the kit. 9k is the kit put everything els which does mean install. all i am really doing is trying to make a sleeper with out going turbo or super. its my girls car and we want this done and i just need to know whats the best way to make this car a sleeper i can play with on the weekend. also i tend not to get in to cars like that b.c i have bad memory due to my bi-polar. i mean i can do oil and brakes and normal stuff like that but i dont want to get over my head.

i mean the only reason i dont go used on things is b.c as my girl calls me i am a over compulsive fix. if i think its broke it gets repaired. if i think its bad it have to be replaced. i change my oil about every 1200-2000 miles. i play around in the to much. when i drive the freeway 9 times out of 10 i am running about 105 and hit the gov when ppl wanna place. i race the car for the fun of it. so i mean i have to keep her healthy lol

That's all a turbo is. How old are you, seriously?

21 and u? let me see hmmm last time i check if u buy a turbo kit online it does not come with a installation package or with a dyno or anything. they do not come with fuel injector , fuel pump, the oil pan and so on . so when u find a full turbo kit online and they will install it, dyno it, flash the ecu and the rest of the work and pay labor let me know.

Nono, I want to see him bore it out .5" over like he said. Post your results when your done. Or if you're dead set on the turbo...

Ill do the installation for $9k, Ill even fly out with all my tools and I'll bring a PRP and tune it for you. I'll take you guys out to dinner, buy you some new shoes and maybe even let you turn some wrench. Sound good?

someone lock this its going nowhere as stated above:

powerworks 3,000.00
xcal tuner 400.00 with 2 preloaded tunes (they take out the governor which might be bad since your doing over 100 on the highway)
install 1,000 maybe more since you live in extra special arkanas that has insanely expensive shops

total come to be under 5 grand. thats all you need for 230whp weekend warrior just like you want that will also be a perfectly reliable DD
