I'm looking into getting a svt focus and debating whether to procharge or turbo it. Can i get some suggestions on what would be my best bet. If theres anything anyone would recommend doing please let me know.[loveff]

are you very mechanically inclined?? if you are then i would say turbo. It will be a beast but can also cause some problems that may need some fixin. If your looking to get power and easily maintained then go procharger. I have seen some high hp Procharged SVT's too, so either way i say it comes down to how much you know about engine problems.

i would go with the powerworks roots style over the procharger centrifugal. they build boost instantly. but i would go turbo before either of those. if money wasnt a factor.

U really think at the same boost level 11 vs 11 PSI PW SVT can take PC SVT ?
Naw I know the PC is more powerful but I'm like gonzorelic and like roots style over centrifugal...if you're gonna go centrifugal you might as well get a turbo.

Get PW if you want a difficult install, oil leaks, and block with a hole in it.

Get PC if you want an easy install, safe yet meaty gains, and an easier route back to stock if needed.

Get turbo if you want the opportunity for crazy power, more tunability, and plan to have lots of time to tinker.

he means when it slings a rod thru the block... roots style is always more efficient means of power than centrifugal. especially twin screw. thats why you never see a vehicle manufacturer put centrifugal blowers on stock boosted cars. always turbo or roots.

Turbo will net you the most hp per psi, and more tq than any SC on a focus will ever give. The stock svt block will handle 350whp safe. I would run 300 you dont need anymore than that. Like what blackersvt said it will give you room to grow.

Hmmm

Roots are NOT more efficient then centrifigal.....no way....I think reason is : The power is there from idle and going up until mid rpm....centrifugal has almost no bottom end, but HUGE upper power...therefore it's stupid to put into production car....they are not expecting you to drive 4000 up rpm all the time..(u will be over speed limit always ;_) I think that's the MAIN reason.... stock cars need to move in lower RPM, therefore roots or really small turbo.

A centrifugal has negative bottom end, the parasitic drag below 2k is like driving with the AC on. But mat the gas and be prepared for some insane power up top.

Here's my take. The PC is VERY, VERY easy to install, maintain, uninstall, sell, upgrade, whatever. I had a problem with my charger and had the car from 100% procharged to 100% stock in 2 hours. That includes removal of the charger, injectors, reflashed the tune. For many including me, this is a BIG advantage for a DD car you rely on.

If you are having someone like tom or mcnews install the system, go turbo. Turbo is the best way to put a smile on your face. It requires some more work on an install, and you cant just go back to stock on a whim if a problem arises. Its just more work, but the performace is unbeatable.

I'm a little biased in my vote........ TURBO
