hey fellow Fanatics. Just curious if you guys new realistically what the zetec 2 liter in the ZX3's made for horsepower and torque at the wheels. I have no idea what i make, I have a 00' Zetec with 116k on it, ive replaced just about everything driveline wise but the engine, Axles, Trans(MTX-75), wheel bearings, and some other things, nothing aftermarket, just OEM. All in all, im trying to figure out what i should be expecting for a Zetec in good condition to make in wheel hp and tq. Anyone? Anyone? thanks.

oh p.s.
I know theyre supposed to make 130hp and 135tq. but isnt that at the crank? and besides, I know i can beat the everyday civic but I saw the thread on peoples Dyno results and theyre all saying around 120hp and 125tq WITH mods. ????

this is the 4 cylinder world. THese engines dyno at the wheels stock around 105 whp and tq. With my intake, high flow cat, flex, and cat back ive made 12 whp and 20 wtq....all for a meer $800....

i'm running a stock engine and i feel like i have quite enough pep, but that doesn't mean i wouldn't want more... i just see teh $$$ and the dyno numbers and say to myself "self, keep that money, buy yourself some chocolate"

I think this is why a lot of people on here agree that the power works supercarger is the best bang for your buck and pretty much the only way to go (except for turbo) if you want a high performance focus. Yes, they're +/- $3k, but 220hp on stock intake, exhaust, stock everything is a lot of horse power for a "stock" 4 cylinder.

On a stock 02 ZTW (manual) I did 97.7 whp @ 5400rpm and 104.2 wht @4500rpm ...mustang MD-600 dyno....after my bolt ons I did 20whp more and I don't remember tq ;-)

exactly why i want to go powerworks or maybe turbo...

i beat some guy in a civic a couple times, but there was another civic that blew me away(he wasn non v-tech too..)

i think that after i do some general stuff that needs to be done to my car, imma slap a powerworks sc on it and away i go..lol

this might help:

Thats basicly stock. all that i did at that point was swap the standered airbox for the SVT model.

no i'm not on utube...
i am looking at teh powerworks in the future too. i am just steering clear of mods that don't have very much bang just some bling...

i agree...PW FTW.....if i had to do it all over again.....the only things id buy are
SVT header set up+flex,2.5 catback,Focus Racing head, PW kit
omg that be a sick car to drive then

Couldn't agree more.

but on average its gonna cost enough

the prices could be lowere or higher...
SVT header kit ~$800
2.5 Catback~$400
FR Head ~$1100
PW kit~$3100 (from Massive)
Cams~$330
Cam Gears~$150

Here's your very fun car for an extra 6 grand :)..........now if i only had that money, you know.......

Cool thanks guys, I was wondering what my car REALLY made, so now i know its about 15-20 less than what base HP and TQ are. . . It sucks too cause i dont have the mooolaaah to spend on big stuff but this damn little hondaboy we hired at works been pissin me off. hes got an EJ Hatchback with a non-turbo JDM B16 in it. he went to the local strip and pulled a 15.3! that made me sad, lol. Best ive ran, and this is when my clutch was slipping and my axles were shot... a 16.8... that sucks.

yep, those B16 are good engines for them....my buddy did a swap to his 97 4 door....and his best time is 15.1

but yea if ur low on $$$ don't even start modding....it gets more expensive with every part u buy muahahahah

Yeah no kidding, they're pretty potent for a 1.6L. It's mostly due to the really short gears in the tranny. My honda friend had an LS VTEC motor that he put a B16 tranny on. It made a world of difference on an already fast car. However traveling at 40mph at 4k gets kind of annoying.

Like I said above, they're pretty good motors, but a lot of it has to do with how short the gears are. I bet a focus would be pretty quick too if the 5th gear redlined at 130mph.

all in all every engine is different, and what you should do is go get yours dyno'd for two reasons, 1. to answer your question and 2. to get a baseline, so you can see what you mods are doing, remember peak horsepower is not as important as you full powerband, a car with a good and flat powerband will be faster than a similar car with more peak horsepower but a really bad powerband.
