You will not regret the decision. There is a responsibility that comes with owning the last SVT focus. You have been chosen to be the keeper of the last one and you should always keep in mind that once it's gone ....it's GONE. There will never be another SVT Focus....Ford won't be investing any money in that kind of car for a Very long time ...if ever. Enjoy it, preserve it and respect it. Imagine the look on your son's face 25,30 or 50 years from now when you hand him the keys to the last SVT Focus.....and it's not a blown up POS. If it is essentially the same as it is today and pretty much stock or able to be returned to stock it will be a one of a kind car. Who among us wouldn't want to be the owner of the last SVT Focus in 30 years? The fact that it is a SVT Focus is unique. The fact that it is # 1978 of 1,978 2004 SVT Focus's made makes it RARE. The fact that it was The Last Production SVT Focus EVER makes it One Of A Kind!

I say we start looking for a suitable SVT Focus project. Then we can have some real fun without any restriction! Boost it and Juice it! I want it to have 500HP and be able to corner like a F1 car. There, that's the goal!

Umm... there was 3057 SVT Focus' built in 04... Just because his number is 1978 doesn't make it the last of the last. Ford didn't build just the three doors, and then switch to the five doors, they were intermingled and built together, along with the standard ZX# hatches in Hermosillo.

If someone had the 2004 SVT #3057 then it would be different.

it's the last 3-door, but not the last of all...that title belongs to a 5-door.....but SVT couldn't tell me how they knew it was made after mine was. Of the original body style, mine was the last SVT Focus made.

I knew it when I got the VIN and called SVT that day...and then I knew I had to buy it, at all costs.

It was new, a leftover from 2004......I figure it was waiting for me to buy it [:)]. It was one of 2 new SVTF left in to country at that time. The day after I started talking to the dealer he got 7 different people calling begging the dealership to sell it to them or put it on eBay. He decided that since I called first, I would have a chance first. I got it for $17,200 with 191 mi on it.

They never told me it was the last, but I think they knew, and I think they knew I knew it as well. I even had lunch with the salesman afterwards. They got me a little, but I got them too [:)].

I hate to be the one to say this... but your number doesnt mean its the last 3 door made, along with running 3 and 5 door models at the same time they also issue production numbers as they roll off the line.... first come first serve.

Just because its number 1978 of 1978 3 door SVT's made doesnt mean its the last 3 door to roll off the line.... since all models are intermingled during the build process.

Well that means mine is even more unique since it has the EAP package and there were only 101 infra-red eaps made, I'm probably in the future gonna go turbo but I'll keep all the oem stuff incase I want to put it back to stock but some cars that are rare that are upgraded usually end up being worth alot to in the future if it's done the right way and kept clean.

Do what you want to it they are just fine left stock, but as 03orange svt said boosting with that much power would be nice, you just have to be smart about when to use the power and keep a lookout for other dumb ass drivers.

I already posted that I knew it wasn't the LAST one, just the last 3-door......my father cornfused it all...I beat him senslesly for it, and if he had the ability to talk right now, he would be begging for my forgiveness......[rofl]

I work on a Ford assembly line. VIN# are issued in the body shop, scanners track the cars through out the plant because so much of the trim is delivered to operators on the line in sequence. That said, there is storage in between body and paint. more storage from paint to trim, and one more between trim and chassis. "Final" is at the end of chassis. The units get quite out of order in all these storage areas. Especially paint. If your car was assembled on a day when paint, or body had a 6-7 hour break down, then the unit build order was way out of sequence.
You have 3k to spend, and want to go fast? Save up another 500 or so.......buy a used 600 sport bike. 11 sec 1/4 mile. top speed 150+.....oh and lets not forget 50mpg on the interstate.
Why waste money. Your car is fun to drive. Keep i that way. If you really want to go fast buy a bike.

Wow... you just COMPLETELY missed the whole point of 2 different posts.

Your build number is 1978... but that does NOT mean that it was the last 3 door made. Ford doesnt build the 3 doors then switch to 5 door models, they are all being built at the same time. The porduction numbers are issued as the car is completed... which means you car was number 1978 that was completed at that time... but you have no way of knowing how many 5 door models were done in the same time frame... there could be as many as 200-300 (or even more) 5 door models made BEFORE your car.... that means there would be up to 300 more 3 door models made AFTER your car.

how about this...my car is numbered as being the last 3-door svt focus.....no one knows when it was built........all we know is I have the highest # of the 1978 built that year for the 3-doors....

I understand what you are saying Orange.......I'm tracking with ya here......

^^^Why is this thread becoming difficult??? You know you have 1978 out of 1978 SVTs for that year and you don't want to modify it any more to save some value on the car. Who gives a rats heiny about the others built at the same time.
