hey all... i noticed something with my car....

tonight on the way home i gunned it in 2nd, shifted into 3rd when it got around 3800 and 3900 rpm's my car did a huge! miss or backfire... but no loud bang so i assume a miss-fire? but it didnt stop there. i shifted into 4th and it did it that same RPM range...

4th and 4grand is alittle fast so i didnt try 4grand in 5th sinse i was just getting out of the city [paranoid]

ill try to make the sound my car made with letters:

waaaaaaaa..... ............... waaaaaaaaa....

where the group of ..... is... thats what my car did... nothing my exhaust went practically silent for a 1/4 of a second, and by the time it hit 3900/4000 it acted like it had power again...

im assuming it only does this in 3rd and 4th gear because of the ratios because it wouldnt do it in 2nd, or 1st...

and heres something else to throw in the mix... on a back road i slowed down enough to get into 2nd around 2k, and then took off and it didnt do it... so i thought it was a glitch and it was gone.... but then a few mins later i wanted to see if it was still doin it... and yep it did it again...

so it did it, didnt do it, didnt do it, did it... amongst 4 lights i hit on this back road.

my mods:

cossie CAI, MBRP 2.25inch flex back exhaust, and these: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=FRM%2DXP104&N=700+115&autoview=sku

i didnt gap them... i just put them in... that might be my issue...
but i almost forgot too... i also have an SCT Excal2 w/ 93oct tune from FS...

i thought about taking the tune off tomorrow morning and seein if my car does it with the stock tune...

any ideas?

hmmm.... i JUST may have come accross my issue while reading an obnoxious post... i took my car to a car wash on the way home and used their pressure washer to get all the nasty love bugs off the front of my car and spray the fog light and lower bumper areas pretty good...

im wondering if my cossie air filter got alittle too wet for my engine's liking?

then i suggest taking off that filter and drying it just in case cuz hydrolock is sometihng most peope enjoy

your not going to hydroblock it with little bit of water it needs to be under water for that. i had a problem like that and i had a MAF sensor go bad it got worse and worse. could be you need a re-gap your plugs or just a little water got up there and miss fired. but if it keeps on doing it and it gets worse its the MAF sensor and it WONT throw a code. start on the cheap stuff and work your way up a MAF is $250 from ford if you need one go to a junk yard its like $50-$70 and its the sameone off the tarus

all you need is some rubbing alcohol and it cue-tip. thats how i was taught to clean them out ive done it before works like a champ

Don't know about the 2007's, but this was a know issue some had (just on occasion). IIRC is was something Ford was "working on" to be fixed in future versions of the ECU programming.

My '05 ST did this two or three times the first year, but has never done it since.

Try searching on "hesitation" and see if any of the older threads describe what you experienced.

i had a surging issue around 3k before, but the sct2 fixed that... im gonna hope that it was just my filter bein wet and maybe that coupled with my MAF needing a cleaning sinse i just oiled it about 600miles ago...
