well guys i decide to follow my gut instinct and when ahead and removed the ac and ps. i didnt get as fast as i wanted to BUT it did make a hell of a difrence. now, even though my focus is auto, i peel out on second and get a bad ass pull when i go to d. turning isnt so bad as long as i have some speed, and ac well...... i just drive with my windows down. hehehehe definetly a mod id reccomend. plus for some reason my exhaust sounds a bit louder. it probably gave like 6 or seven horses.[grinking]

First off PLEASE tell me you are not manulay shifting your automatic car!

That will tear the hell out of your tranny and you can kiss all that new found power goodbye when the car is sitting in the shop or in your driveway.

BUT if the mod works thats good, I'm just interested to see the long term affects on the car, also not to mention your defroster will no longer work.

yeah i shift it, but only when i race, im not that stupid. plus its not my daily driver. i drive a four cyl ranger during the day, and at night my focus. ill keep you posted on secondary effects if any. if the tranny goes bad. which ihope, ill swap it out to a manual one. how bout the zetec one?

Anytime doing it is bad, it gradually damages the transmission's clutches and the car does not repair itself. The more you do it even if racing the more it hurts and to be completly honest it does not help at all. If you really want to improve the shifting get a SCT chip or flasher, its expensive but will help out firming up the shifts and even changing the shift points on top of that good news it can actually save your transmission from excessive wear that the long "soft" shifts actually cause.

How it gives you a link to a place that sells parts for the spi that helps no?

lawl you have a 110bhp car and you took out the A/C and powersteering? I'm sorry but that's pretty dumb, you've killed the resale value.

And why? so you can do neutral to drive drops and spin your wheels? If you keep the A/C off the compressor will never engage and there will not be any lag, hell most people that do A/C deletes LEAVE THE PULLY THERE. and they are just doing it for more room for their F/I.

Becareful hope you don't hit a pothole and go flying off the road cause you got 2hp from your PS delete.

I would take a gain of 6-7 HP with a grain of salt...maybe, maybe if you had the AC blasting on a 90+ degree day would it ever sap that much power from the engine. And the PS pump...while it causes drag, I seriously doubt that it alone would take 3-3.5 HP to run. I would think this would result in a more reasonable gain of 1-2 HP with the AC off, and maybe 2-3 while running the AC.

You can get a chip from www.focussport.com They sell the flasher and the chips. The flasher is easier to use and more useful when it comes to tinkering but the chip is cheaper and will give the same amount of performance that the flasher will. The flasher plugs into the OBD2 port and re tunes your PC from there, the chip is installed directly on a port on the PC itself.

The only thing your really gaining from manually shifting an auto is you get to hold the shifts to higher revs (which the SCT will do). Now by holding it longer you might get a few seconds of extra pull but at the cost of the clutches in the transmission. Its not worth the trade.

Why are you guys all being [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]s? He wanted to try it, did try it, and liked the result.

And notice he said it wasn't his daily driver.

I've done alot "worse" things to my car but people haven't bawled at me about it, so why this guy?

I manual shifted my automatic down the quarter one night, and tried comparing to just flooring it...flooring it got a better time. No matter how long I held the revs manual shifting, it didn't make a difference.

I'm with tin. This is the FIRST time I've seen people bashing on a fellow SPI owner.

I wont stand for this kind of crap. Seriously, if anything we should be asking him questions and thanking him for posting. (and warning him that he is damaging his transmission)

Did you just get a shorter belt and work around them?

I think you might have been a little too excited when you took it out for the first time like this and exaggerated on the butt dyno, but hey it happens to all of us.

You can get a flasher used or from a variety of different places. A flasher with a tune will run you about $350-600 depending on the type and tune(s). You can usually find an Xcal 1 for under a hundred and get a tune for $100-250 which is your cheapest way to go about this. You can also go for the Xcal 2 with a tune for like $500 ish if you have the extra money.

Please watch out with your shifting, even if it is not your daily driver. I would really like to see the long term affects on the AC and PS delete.

A before and after dyno would be interesting too.

Why does everyone here try to kiss eachothers asses and pretend like the shit they do isnt retarded? I rarely, if ever see anyone speaking there mind here. You dont stand for this crap??? Its an open discussion forum last time I checked. Being that this is one of the most overly-PC forums I visit, its hard enough to get solid opinions when everyone just wants to sound...overly-PC.

Well the fact that he started a thread before doing this telling people he was thinking about it and had a dozen people tell him it wasn't a bright idea doesn't help his cause

sorry OP you are a real man of genius.

Mr. removed my powersteering and a/c from a stock auto spi guy...

you wern't happy enough with your 110hp at the crank and were too cheap
to buy any mods, So you did the next best thing.

Removed you powersteering and a/c, now not only are you fast enough to beat kia's but you can spin your front wheels if you jam it into drive fast enough.

we salute you.

Mr removed my powersteering and a/c from a stock auto spi guuuuuy..
