KENSCIVIC, that one comment about an actual race header is a little wrong there man. The svt header out flows anything out there. You can use one of the Focus Sport or any other race header out there and it will actually hurt the power compared to the stock one. Cosworth did a great job on that header. I know you didnt say anything about the svt header itself, but just wanted you to know that the svt header is better than anything out there. Dont take me wrong, im not saying anything against you, just wanted you to know that there are race headers out there and none beat the svt one.

haha no worries man.. Yah i noticed the design of the factory header is pretty stout looking but i would think if you were wanting a full out race and had a bunch of money to piss away for 3 whp you could get a good shop to custom make a race header to eliminate the cat and everything all in one piece.

but agian, it seems like to me "and this is an outsider looking in really b/c i have decided not to modify my car until it is paid off , since im in college it will probably be 2 years" The focus svt is built pretty nice from the factory and they thought everything through pretty thouroughly to make the svt a performance 4 banger out of the box.. Where honda puts shitty airboxes, half assed exhaust manifolds and tiny defective catalytic converters on their "performance" edition vehicles..

that again is strictly my opinion after owning the focus for three weeks ..

the ep took effort to make fun.. it took a 2 1/4" drop, all the basic bolt ons to make it tolerable then it needed wider wheels and probably by then a transmission rebuild!!(seriously, 4000 miles and the third gear synchro was toast) haha.. and if you think svt factory motor mounts are not great.. Test out a 02-05 si and try peeling out.. you will feel shit and within a year you will rip the [:)][:)][:)][:)] out of the factory mounts..

so i just say be happy with the svt... the ep might lay down better numbers modification for modification but remember this! they have that oh so shitty macpherson suspension!!! [wave]

NOBUSERI: I'm still curious about the low RPM performance of your motor. Where do you think that the HP & TQ are developed? Are you satisfied with the performance and are there any wear issues? Sorry for all the questions, but you are the only bloke on this side that seems to have taken the plunge and put 'em in. No where else to turn..... Thank you for your earlier response and patience!!

im going for just basic boltons, and maybe some cams. i really want my car for the handling aspect..you guys may think im an idiot, but sometimes on my "Togue" runs, my car doesnt see anything below 5K rpms. ive got 70K on it, and it hasnt shown any bad signs yet...(crosses fingers it starts in the morning)

Good luck Roll A 7. Theres several of us doing it. lol.

What would qualify as "highest HP SVT"? If you change out the intake manifold and remove the VCT, all you really have is a modded Zetec. How about an engine swap? Duratecs can lay down more power with boltons than Zetecs can, I believe.

This is taken from the "official SVT dyno thread"

This is Belacyrf's SVT

Mods:Modifications: FS Cool-Flo Intake, ORP, Exhaust Cam Gear, FS Cams, SCT

Now please don't dispute this with me, it's not my car and I don't know the guy. I'm just posting as it's the highest N/A numbers I've seen from an SVT.

Yeah the famous bela dyno, I think he's a mod on FJ.

Sad story that FS never said why they didnt release the cams, he had the prototype's and supposedly they were going to be released but ?????????? Happened-

But really all one has to do is get Tom's damn Stroker N/A ownage kit, and they'll reign SVT n/a kingdom.

Speaking of people thinking they are making MAD hp N/A

Had some guy tonight at infineon try and tell me his bone stock SVT has 163 hp, because he has an AEM intake.. Wow, he was dialing a 16.3 and ran around 16.5...

All he had was the intake, he was FOS if you ask me..

Sounds like you need to learn how to shift if you toasted a 3rd gear synchro in 4000 miles. Honda makes the best NA 4 cylinder cars out there hands down.

First off, you must have ever opened the hood on any "performance edition" Honda 4-cylinder. Have you not seen a stock B16 or b18C5 exhaust manifold? By far works of art. Defective tiny cat-convertors? Where do you come up with this stuff? Not only does Honda 4-cylinder performance cars put out MORE POWER with LESS DISPLACEMENT then the SVT Focus but they also pass as Low Emissions Vehicles. This is quite a feat considering that most Honda performance 4-cylinders are putting out over 100hp/liter. So next time you decide to bash something get the facts first.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not bashing the SVT by any means. But when in comparison to a comprable Honda VTEC motor there is just no competition.

I've seen Kenscivic on Ephatch, where I lurk. And Scandelous, while you're overarching assumption is pretty good here, in this specific example you've missed your mark a bit. The EP3's K20A3 and accompanying transaxle had a couple quirks. I havent dug all the way into it, but they do have a tendency toward trans axle problems, grinding is a common complaint. And I would believe there are bottlenecks in the exhaust, since a stock K20A3 dynos at, what, around 140whp? Kenscivic can back me up there or not, but with boltons they can somehow manage 14s. In this specific example, there is an exception, which most of the motoring world already has accepted.

I think what is more important are the performance figures -- 0-60 and 1/4 mile times etc. Ultimately the horspepower figures are meaningless. What mattters is how the car performs and drives.

So anyone running 14s in an SVT?
Exactly, but I think the biggest bottle necks for the SVTF in N/A form are the transmission and final drive gear ratio. If you could get a stock SVTF to go through the traps at the top of 4th gear you would pontential run mid 14's with ease.

Just curious, as part of determining which car is posting the highest dyno figures, are you taking into account cars that are bored and stroked?

I haven't heard of many folks going to that extreme and would be curious.

Also, I would assume that this comparison does not apply to V8 conversions.

I'm really not limiting it at all to anything except FI and/or NOS. If you have a naturally aspirated SVT of any kind that still has an SVT motor in it (IE, not a 2.3 stroker), I wanna hear aboot it.

Mine's bone stock [paranoid] , but I am enjoying the conversation.
