How Pimp Will this be?

FocusNewb: is it a big deal if the tires rub? I'm kind of scared of that. I asked before I bought the wheels and Eibach assured me no problem with 215 series tires - and so did WheelMax. I opted for the 205 anyway, and a lower profile 40 sidewall.
Yeah, it could be bad if they rub. Mine just barely scrape on the fender a little every now and then which is why I have procrastinated with the camber kit. If they rubbed on every bump, I would not drive it until I got it fixed.

The other thing is the camber kit will keep you from prematurely wearing your tires. Mine are noticeably leaning inward when viewed from the rear. A little of that is built into the suspension design but mine are out of spec and I bet yours will be too.

Your tires will be the same width as mine (8.07") and 6/10 of an inch shorter (23.46 vs my 24.07)so you may not have an issue. (SW=sidewall height)
Tire SW(mm) W(in) H(in) Circum(in) (revs/mile)
205/50-16 205 8.07 24.07 75.62085624 837.86
205/40-17 164 8.07 23.46 73.69137413 859.80

Mine DEFINITELY lean to the inside ... so badly in fact - I bought new tires because my rears are bald on the inside area! I guess I'll need the camber kit then.

Appreciate the numbers on the tire sizes.

Alright - so stage one of my installations was a COMPLETE BUST! I am so angry!

First - my bolts holding the exhaust components on are rusted on! No removing those easily. I couldn't get enough leverage to get them loose so after an hour under the car - I gave up.

Second, My BDR throttle body screw broke off into a diferent tab than I thought it had - so I undid a lot of that before I realized I still couldn't install that.

Then, my rims got put on : ) Nice. New pics in the gallery. Needs alignment - everyone had huge waits though and since when is an alignment $90 anyway? Need to get that done sometime.

Checked prices on Eibach Sportline Suspension Installation - $400-700 depending where I go. I have another local guy that wants some information on the kit & he'll give me pricing tomorrow.

Drove around for a while - loved the looks I got : ) Ballin'!

If you can get access to an oxyacetylene torch, you can use that to get rid of the rust.

All you have to do is heat the bolts up until they are "cherry red" and you'll notice black flaking from the bolt. Let it cool and work it then. I had to do this when I installed my header.

As for the TB...good luck!

Noticed lately it rubs ... Over bumps it hits and around some corners too. Seems to only be rear passenger side tire. Could be wrong - hard to tell.

about 50,000 miles on the stock suspension - will the 2" drop rub my tires?

Any ways around rubbing with this kit? I was so excited too ... - Ryan

Hey Jealousyyyy
Hey Jealousy...

o man its late, that song's awesome though.

Playa, screw you. Your SPI is going to be awesome after all that. I'm so excited to see how it will come out. MD isn't too far away I gatta see your car once you're done!

I want to make one of these threads but I won't be done nearly as soon as you will be.

PS- playa, the sportlines look real nice but with all that power you might want to consider the pro-kit instead. (i'm not sure how you drive, but me being the m[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)] i am thank god i got the pro kit)

Mine never rubs with the 15" wheels but that's probably not the answer you are looking for. Same height, skinnier wheel. If you are rubbing w/out the kit you may have issues. Although, part of that could be the age of your suspension components.

Mine rubs the rear passenger side most often too....weird. It only does it with hard bumps or people in the car.

The front driver side rubs occasionally when hitting a bump on a hard right turn.

Exactly. That is kind of weird ...

I'll maybe look into the Pro Kit then - either way I need a new suspension & want it lowered, so look for a decision in the next week on that.

I would look at some other options on vehicles but unfortunately due to some crooked car dealers - i'm in this for the long haul - unless it gets totaled. Thanks for the suggestion though : )
