I have the 2.25" magnaflow catback right now. Ive been reading alot of posts talking about how the magnaflow 2.25" isnt that good for the SVTs. As far as performance upgrades i have a aem sri, 67mm tb, and toms tune (not planning on stopping with just these). Im just curious if i should upgrade my exhaust to a 2.5". If i do it, im probably gonna go for the mbrp catback. Anybody have any input on this?

it's not that the exhaust isn't "good", it' just that some people don't like the sound. I currently have the magnaflow exhaust and the High-flow cat and I LOVE the exhaust tone. Just don't put on an ORP and think it will sound good cause all it'll sound like, is RICE. Other than that... exhaust doesn't really do anything for power... the stock exhaust was one of the best ones for the focus... all you're changing is the "sound" of the exhaust. Try putting in a high-flow cat or ORP and that will net you a little power if you're persistant about doing something to the exhaust.

Tell me your kidding. An aftermarket exhaust won't net any power increases? A CAI will do very little? This sucks. It's sounding more and more to me like there aren't very many power upgrades for the SVT other than going FI. Is this true?

i do like the sound of the magnaflow. i just remember reading where someone posted that the magnaflow is a downgrade in performance. what high flow cat do you have?

^^^ I have magnaflow and it is downgrade in performance. The stock Exhaust is 60mm which is 2.36" but the magnaflow is 2.25" so it is actually smaller than stock size exhaust. I just bought a 2.5" Flex pipe and borla to replace the magnaflow.

You hav to remember, this is an SVT, not your run of the mill focus. Ford put many of the aftermarket tricks into the focus ahead of time. Want some power, get a tune, get an ORP.

yeah best bang for the buck is HFC ( not a big fan of ORP) and the tune.
Quoted for truth.

The CAI will net you some gains (about 5hp/5tq), a throttle body will get rid of lag in throttle response, and a rear lower engine mount will improve your shifts. The SVTf has ~170hp at the crank but ~150 at the ground. There's room to get more of that 170 to the ground, but the biggest gains are FI.

And like others have said, the 2.25" Magnaflow flex-back is more restrictive than the stock exhaust, causing a loss in power. The only reason to change the exhaust (besides the cat pipe) is for looks, sound or FI.

Yeah, my research around here seems to suggest the tune,K&N filter, and ORP are the most worthwhile performance upgrades available for the SVTF.

The other stuff (oils, wires, wraps, mounts) are just niceties that don't add so much to the performance of the vehicle but rather the 'experience' of the vehicle.

I think I'd be happy with a 10% bump in performance and I think the tune, K&N and ORP can get me there.

This is also my plan, simple, reliable, not wild either.

^^^ Be nice to get a before and after on the same day/dyno,
but that's a lot of work to swap all that out in that period of time.
