ford WAS gonna put a V6 in it, but they realized it was a FOCUS, and ended that silly idea right away........

A v6 would be overkill. I prefer a high powered 4 cylindar in a car of this size rather than a bulky heavy V6 with high torque without upgraded internals...sloppy! The SVT Contour would have been even cooler if it was a supercharged 2.0 Zetec.

If you REALLY wanted to go for power, I've heard of a Cobra engine swap. Although, I believe it was just for the sedan. It put a Mustang Cobra engine, a driveshaft, and an 8" rear end in a Focus. Man. Roll up to a vette and have a camera ready for that guys reaction at the next light!!!! [burnout] [ohcrap] [dunno] [rofl]

The V8 conversion kits work on any Focus not just sedans. You can search for the RS8 to see what is possible, but for the most part you will just turn your Focus into a Mustang in drag.

^ werd, the design of the rear suspension is independently responsible for more than half of the nice things anybody's every said about the Focus. I know! Lets rip it out and stick in a solid rear axle!!1
See its a common misconception that you're swapping a Cobra drivetrain into the Focus. You're actually swapping the Focus chassis onto the Cobra drivetrain, which is a vast improvement for the 'Stang [

They should put the 4.4 Volvo/Yamaha V-8 in the Focus. It's got 311hp and it should already be set up for front drive, because it is an evolution of the Tortise SHO V8. That would be one quick, unique Focus. I'll probably just go FI on mine eventually, and have around the same power but less weight and reliability lol.

As far as acceleration is concerned, the Focus (regardless of model) is a poor platform as far as acceleration/hp per $ is concerned.
