Hey Folks,

Does anyone here know how difficult it is to replace the rear window regulator (drivers side) on a 2001 SE sedan? I had to pay the dealership a ton to replace the passenger side rear one just a month ago and now the drivers side is gone. Pretty crappy for windows that get used maybe 4 or 5 times a year. I can't afford to keep returning to the dealership so I just bought the part today and I am going to give it a try later. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
J.

Well, I installed the new regulator without any trouble last night, and it was relatively easy. It took less than an hour and that's including the time it took me to run and get a torx bit set. I still have one question though. There is a hole in the footer of the piece of glass. There was nothing in this hole when I began the project and nothing caught in the bottom of the door well. It appears that something should go there to connect the glass to the regulator but I can't figure out why there isn't a piece there or stuck in the bottom of the door. Any ideas???
Thanks.

Just a little trick that the techs here have told me about. Take some packaging tape (the clear stuff) and run it over the top of the door on the inside and outside. Use enough to hold the glass out of the way. I haven\'t done one myself, but I had a customer change it on the lot so he wouldn\'t have to pay the core. For some reason, they have a core on the left side but not the right side. I\'m assuming (dangerous, I know) that you are talking about power windows, right? By the way, those are just clearance notches. The glass attatches only in the middle of the bottom of the window.
