today after school, i went to autozone and bought some stp fuel injecter cleaner, i then drive home after i put half bottle in the gas tank. after 2 minutes, i notice the temp gauge was going up very very fast, all the way to the red. so i pull over and open the hood. i heard somethings boiling, maybe the coolant, so i turn on the heat and waited 10 minutes, after i get home, the temp gauga is at the middle which seems fine, so i took a freshlight and try to check wut is wrong. all i notice is that both fans is not running, can that be the problem? anything wlse i should check?

I'm having a similar problem. However, the temp gauge is reading normal. There is no activity from the fans. I did notice that the check engine light flashes intermittently and the car is running rough. BTW, the heater blows hot air. I've noticed no leakes. Ideas? I'm thinking thermostat.

Thanks,

M.

what i notice is, my car only overheat when moving slow and in traffic. both fan does come on when i put the ac or the heat on. so now, whenever it overheat, i just turn on ac, and the temp will go down in a few seconds. still trying to figure out the problem

I had the same exact problem. i turn my ac on to kick in the high speed fan to cool down the rad in traffic jams.

My collant mix wasnt right. I had too much coolant and not enough water.

flush your radiator and do a 50/50 mix or buy it premixed, thats what i did and it solved the problem. a 40coolant and 60 water mix is good too if you dont live in a snowy climate.

once i fixed it, i had 2 busted hoses the later week, check your hoses too because all that heat really tears them down.
