Borla Exhaust Question

Does anyone have one of these systems installed on their car and if you do, how does it sound? I don't have a clue what it might sound like, hoping for a deep and not overally loud sound similar to the deepness of a Mustang GT. Kinda hard to explain a sound but hopefully you get my drift. Or if you have heard this system on a Focus, can you let me know.

It's pretty costly but I know Borla has a very high stand in this area. Please let me know..

No four cylinder is going to have the depth of sound like a Mustang GT. The GT gets is deep tone from the shear cubic inch of the enige (or cc for the metric amongst us). 5.0 is 302 cubic inches, 4.6 is 281 cubic inches. 2.0 is like 130 cubic inches I think.

A good friend has a 526 cubic inch (8.5 litre) cadillac engine and it positively rumbles like nothing I've ever heard. It's all about inches.

Welcome to the board....most people on here will tell you that you can't go wrong with the Borla...you won't get the sound of your GT, but at least you won't get the "bubble bee" sound with the borla.

Yeah in no way am I expecting my car to sound like a Mustang, let's get realistic now. I just don't want one of those rice spitting exhaust systems that sound like they are breathing out helium instead of exhaust.

I did read some stuff about Borla on this message board before but couldn't find anything to do with sound. I am more for the performance upgrade then the sound personally. I don't need to wake up my neighbours to feel "special" like some people.

Personally I think a super loud exhaust coming from a little 4 banger is pretty gay to say the least. Always good for a laugh.......

In that sense, all exhausts have about the same effect on power. A little hp and a little bit of torque increase. MagnaFlow has a sound clip on their website. Does any other company have sound clips?

Believe me, i have the borla exhaust system (2.5" <-- harder to find). It has a deep tone that sounds sweet, and does get louder as you build up rpms. Believe me its a very nice system to get and it is the best. [thumb]

Hey Termie, thanks for your input. I am sure this is the system I am looking for. I just don't want anything to loud, like say your driving and you can hear the guy in front of you still speeding up over 3 blocks away. I am not looking for that kind of attention.

im looking at the borla as well and it is nice to know it is not gonna sound like a honda with a drive through exhaust tip

the clip on magnaflow sounded pretty good. it was not too loud. is magnaflow a reputable company?
