Hoping someone ran into this before and was able to resolve thanks. It usually happens every few days and the car can stall anywhere. Battery is at full strength, and starter and alternator Nearly New, I wonder what the lock and the Little Green Dot means on the error also ?

Finally figured this out for my 2014 Ford Focus SE, intermittent at first then permanently wouldn't start

The root cause is likely this: it's a broken fuse, intermittent voltage to BCM. If you run a BCE test, U3006. Pinpoint test BCM Supply circuits. Found mega fuse #9 broken, this has been causing intermittent voltage to BCM. Replace and retest, OK. Tech notes: PCM code P0420 received. Ford part number FMC cv6z 14526 CA - circuit breaker asy. The part cost 13.75. But total repair cost at the dealership was to 238.73. For me this issue was intermittent I brought it in and they did not correctly diagnose it the first time because when this part starts wearing out, sometimes they will miss it when running the code, so I ended up with a new alternator and a battery that I didn't need. The mechanic also told me that when this part goes other erratic behaviors can also occur with a vehicle. So I would highly recommend buying this similar part for your car I have a Ford Focus 2014 SE, the part is inexpensive, swap that part out first before you spend any money on anything else , I hope this post helps out a lot of people, because this is the kind of issue that can easily be misdiagnosed and people will just be throwing money at things that don't need to be fixed

I'd also like to add when the issue became permanent and it wouldn't start at all, when trying to turn it over it would just make a super fast clicking sound and all my dashboard lights would freak out. Hope this helps

thanks! Dang I wish I seen this forum b4 going to the dealer.. my car had same issue Nd I was breaking my brain trying to figure it out paid $156.00 for the diagnostic check and repair..🤦‍♂️ least while it was there they took care of the yet another tcm recall and 2nd door latch recall.

Same here can’t find no research for the location of this part!
Part is located in the front of the battery box itself. I had to remove air filter assembly to get at it. Trace the red (+) battery cable, the end not attached to the battery is attached to the main distribution panel which contains all the "mega" fuses.

#4 and #9 are related to BCM. I'm still waiting on the parts, will replace both of them

Thank you James and Amos!!! This is what was wrong with my car and because of you we were able to fix it! Today I contacted 4 different mechanics to change the fuse All of them said no way it was this and refused to change the fuse (all of them without even looking at the car went down the it’s a wiring issue and it will cost you a lot.) I was so stressed out I wanted to try the fuse change first because it seemed to me it was the problem. I figured I gamble on that for a couple hundred But of course ran into trouble finding a place to do it so we had to resort to doing it ourselves and thankfully my son and my landlord (neither ever really worked on cars)were able to get it done following your direction and the picture of the fuse!! $14 was the cost Thank you again!!!!

For me it was that fuse and a new key needed to be made.

Is this something that can be done while car is parked on a busy highway? how many tools are required?

Yes, basic metric tools, sockets + wrenches, etc. Air-box removal requires a 8mm or 5/16 socket and flat blade screwdriver, you'll find air filter/airbox removal for fixing grounds under airbox, etc. on YouTube.
IAC, disconnect/isolate battery ground wire 1st.

Thank you for the above gentlemen! I'd checked all those midi fuses with a simple fuse tester the one with the light in one of those pointy screw drivers with a ground. The light came on every time, both sides. However, when I used an Ohms meter on each side, one of those fuses had degraded to almost nothing, but had enough material left to let a small trickle of electricity thru to light up the fuse tester.

My problem was a severe kink that damaged that white wire white wire attached to terminal that runs to fuse F22 and then back to battery monitoring sensor at the negative terminal.
After straightening and assuring a connection car started . I taped it then replaced the wire when I got home. Think checking that F22 fuse for feature or burn out may be a good check also.

Where do you get the fuse from the dealership or did you order it? Also what’s the voltage 58 or 60 ?

2014 ford focus here. Yup bad fuse mega 9. I used a test light and it was good checked both ends But when I checked Continuity, with my ohm meter, it went in and out. The fuses cracked and you can't tell with the test light. Wow thanks for the help
