IMO, a "CAI" is a waste of money on an Mk3. I've run the K&N and and Steeda, and the stock intake is better all-around than both of them. As already stated, do the snorkel delete, and put a drop-in filter in. If you're wanting more sound, use an open-end filter or an RS lid.

I settled on the K&N drop-in with the removable end cap, and run cap off in cooler weather and cap on in hot weather. You lose low rpm performance when you pull hot air in from under the hood.

If I were to do it again, the AEM CAI is the one I would try, because it is the only true "cold air" intake available for the Mk3 that I'm aware of.

FRPP CAI snorkel & K&N filter kit with stock sealed box for best performance. If you want more intake growl sound at the expense of some performance loss due to heatsoak then get the RS airbox with Mountune open end filter & cap.

2.0 MK3 responds great to air intake mods..I wouldn't pay $300+ for a new intake system though, not worth it, get a RS airbox with high flow filter like AEM dryflow instead..or get a used K&N if you can find one

Also toms is good, but you need a tune to optimise for the 3" pipe and maf, right tom?

Snorkel delete is removing oem snorkel which is restrictive and exclusive to the n/a focus for reducing n/v/h.The ST horn & FRPP snorkel are completely different animals and help with airflow to the box.

I really don’t see how the snorkel is needed. It isn’t mentioned on the first 10 pages of the snorkel delete thread and when Elizabeth tested out putting one on, she even said that it does nothing.
Is she a Ford engineer? [???:)]

She put on the ST horn which she felt looked good but she didn't do any flow bench testing or measure IAT's. Not saying there is any real benefit to the ST horn like there is with the FRPP snorkel, but it does look like it would smooth intake flow. I put one on my SE when I did the oem snorkel delete and for the $5 I think it was worth it. It comes stock on the ST

I get how they’re different. The Focus SE snorkel looks like a snorkel from a snorkel mask.

The ST snorkel looks like a frame for the hole the SE snorkel left. If anything it looks like it restricts air a teeny tiny amount.
It has the same design characteristics of all the real performance snorkel mouth openings.

Adding a scoop like the vellosatech or many other varients is a great idea, it helps to collect and rush fresh air into the airbox area..you wouldn't think it would make much difference but like I said, the focus is very sensitive to air delivery

How hard is it to install those scoops, and don't they interfere with the Active grille shutters?
