I have 2 questions relating to my 2014 Ford Focus SE sedan, 2L w/DCT.

First off, does a Ford dealer have to activate the "Hill Start Assist" or is it not available on all DCT models? On mine it dash is says hill assist not available.

The other thing I'm curious about is how do these cars hit operating temperature so fast? Never had a vehicle that you start up, let run for about 20 seconds then drive down the road 200-300 yards and it is instantly midway up the temp gauge. The temp sensor must be positioned at the hottest point on the engine or something... Never goes over so I'm not concerned there is a issue.

Thanks [headbang]

In regards to your second question, I read elsewhere in the forum that the "gauge" is actually a glorified dummy-light. It doesn't actually gauge the true temperature. Just pretty much has a "cold", "operating temperature", and "overheating" level that the needle will sit at.
That makes sense then !

No idea what that charge is all about, the service bay doors were all right up, no AC was on that particular day lol.

The "environmental charge" on the diagnostic is one more profit center for Ford. I have a friend who works in a Ford service department; he tells me they add a small e/c on every diag ticket to "recover" all of the costs of shop items: towels, chemicals, the plastic seat cover and floor mat they put in your car when you check it in.

The hill assist is the brake being held when on a hill.

So the car does not roll backwards.

So does the op car roll backwards on a hill? (if you take your foot off the brake?)

I am also not sure what year the hill assist became a standard feature.
Remember the op is also in Canada... (if it matters.)
My 2012 certainly did NOT have hill assist.

It goes up with increments of ten degrees all the way to the end in which CHT protection becomes active. It's dummy proof but it'll let you know once you start creeping up and will move slightly for every ten degrees.
