Thanks. I still have the other side to do. Still have to do a proper bleed all the way around. I bled the driver's side, because those are the ones finished. I'm sure alittle air got in the lines at least on front right.

I haven't bled those yet because rust issues have been so severe. Not even taking wheels off until I'm ready to be parked for several days.

I'm sure waiting for the rear brake to readjust is most, if not all of it.

I'll look up that brake bedding, I'm not familiar with it. At this point, I think I have all I need, for this time anyway, unless I break something on the passenger side.

I thought it was gonna warm up. Snowed last night.

Crap.

Took off the front right wheel yesterday, couldn't get the bleeder open. Sprayed w/PB Blaster, lightly tapped on it to help vibrate oil into the threads. Let it sit overnight. Will try it again this afternoon sometime after it gets above freezing. If no go, I'll re-spray, tap some more, and leave i until tomorrow when it's supposed to get up to 59F.

Learned my lesson last time, not rebuilding this caliper unless I can get that valve open. I have a new bleeder to put in, a Russell speed bleeder valve.

The air hammer method worked! I got the stuck bleeder off the caliper!

The hose won't come off. I need to rebuild the caliper. I can do it with the line attached, it'll just take a little longer.

When I finished the driver's side, I did a test drive and it seemed ok. So I drove it couple of times to pick up much-needed supplies, it was wet for a couple of days anyway. It was fine until the 2nd trip, farther away for a grocery run. I got into town and the right front started making horrible grinding. No build-up, no lead-in, just, ok, then not ok.

Turns out the same thing happened as happened on the driver's side. One of the pads had separated from the backing plate. Second surprise...when I took the caliper apart, lots of crap fell out of the piston. You know the 3 spring-metal retainer doohickeys the fit inside the caliper to hold the pad in place? One of those fell out. Only there wasn't one broken off on the pads I just took off. So that's been in there at least since the last brake job, which I paid a mechanic to do. It wouldn't have been hurting anything, at least I don't think so, other than being an additional source of rust, I just thought it was weird.

So tomorrow I'll get the front finished. Then I have 2 days of rain, but it should be drivable then, so I can use the wet days to run errands, re-stock, like I didn't do last time. When the brakes started grinding I cut things short and eased it on home. After that I have at least 4 good days to get that last rear brake done.

Caliper's done, everything's except the wheel back on, and bleeding the system. I hope I have enough brake fluid.

Slider pins weren't sliding, I put in new pin boots, cleaned the pins up with steel wool, lots of silicone paste, they're nice now. Before I put the new boots in I cleaned the holes out with a battery terminal brush, one of them was pretty rusty. Used silicone spray on the outside of the boots to get them into the holes.

Taking a short break, then going back out to bleed the thing. Have to go back to the front left and start from there. Got all kinds of air in when I took the piston out of the caliper. I forgot to clamp the line and ran the res out before I noticed.

ooo a wagon even longer feeds to the rear =D dont worry its my turn next for redoing brakes but i need to repair the actual brake lines

Bummer, at least that line will be fully purged with fresh fluid - along with most of the system (if not all) by the time you're done.

I think most of the fluid is nice and clean now. I put Russell speed bleeders on the front, have a pair for the rear, too. Made it easier to bleed, and faster than a gravity bleed, but I can't see if I still have bubbles. The fluid starts draining out of the tubing before I can get over to look. What I did was just give it about 10 pumps, check the res, check the bleed jar. Repeat, call it good. After the 2nd one was done, the brake warning light went off. Good thing, as I was about out of brake fluid.

Pedal felt good. Took it for a test drive, it seems good. I'll re-bleed and do all 4 after that last wheel's done.

It's drive-able again. I still have that last rear brake to do, but I need to do some shopping, I'm about out of several essentials. Dog food, chicken feed, coffee, brake fluid...Rain for the next 2 days, then a few days of nice.
