I would love to get 1/2 of the 30k miles you guys mention. Will be changing out my Goodyear Eagle F1's at about 12k miles. I do auto-x and that helps the life a lot.

As for Tire Rack and shipping. I found out local shops will price match or come close to Tire Rack prices.
Add tire cost plus shipping and see how locals do for price before M&B. Most tire shops should be able to get anything Tire Rack sells.
The last 3 or 4 sets of tires I got were researched on TR and purchased locally for the same or within $5 tire of TR pricing.

I got one set locally without researching and got burnt bad. Sold me all-seasons when I asked for summer only and my dedicated snows out performed the all-seasons.

I had never had car tires go over 40K except to drive cross country on 2/32" until I got my Focus on 17" Cooper A/S which I just gave up on with 54k (mostly highway) miles, and strangely still very legal on the LEFT side only. I had endured at least half that life with dreadful noise from the rear tires (only rotated once at 10k) which had terrible scalloping on the inside only. Could stability control/ABS flat spot the unloaded edge of each rear tire every four inches? I've always chosen high performance tires (in the age before summer rubber) but decided to give up dry performance and put Conti DWS06 (Sears online price w/no shipping) on 16" SE-P4 on clearance at Tire Rack and saved 10# per corner less than the 17s. Very quiet, better in rain (and probably slush) than the Coopers. I bought an FR-S so I have a good platform for using up my old Subaru tires, otherwise my Hankook A/S Ventus II would outlive me.

I have no issues with the oem contiprocontacts thus far. 18k miles with over half tread left. This car does not eat tires like my 2006 ZX3. Same driver and style, I never got more than 30k on a set of tires, except the Michelin Defenders we have on it now, they might make 50k, on a 90k tire.
The Conti's are quiet, wearing even, good in the rain. Don't see much snow as I use my truck, but they did ok in light snow. They do tend to squeal in the corners more than I'd like. Overall I'm sold on Conti's , will possibly try the sportcontact when these are toast.
