What's up, name is Josh. Been around the forums for years but rarely post. Use the Focus forums more for info anyhow since I don't have one.

Figured I'd finally post my N/A build since I'm finally doing it. Cheaped out and just got the head milled .075". It's the max I can go and still maintain atleast .035" valve to piston clearance (Intake valve is at .037" with just a few * of adjustment, hope it performs well cause I don't have play).

Focus engine isn't in yet. Need to put windage tray and below on, ARP head studs come Tuesday so assembly can finally begin. I leave the 6th tho to Indianapolis for work and won't be back till September 10th.


Muffler is mostly hidden with the WW lip, I didnt want a big single tip/canister style back there. If it comes down to it, once the lip kit is on, I might paint the muffler body black to make it hide so just the tips stand out. I mocked up the lip when I welded the mounts on so its a bit low/to the left without it. Vid from the day I blew my Craigslist replacement ZX2 engine I got for $250 with a 98 transmission.

SVT Focus intake manifold is on finally. I also pulled apart the ZX2 harness, swapped fuel pressure regulator, spliced FPS and TB pigtails then rotated injectors and 'tucked' the harness under the manifold, as well as put the thermostat housing and coil pack bracket on.

This is how it will sit till I get back in town in mid September. Aluminum valve cover, cam gears, and a catch can are at Liquid Powder Coats for powdercoating.

Thought about putting a relocation kit on with one for a diesel...

Its the size the books call for the ZX2. I'll be getting a Bosch after first startup/AutoZone oil cleaning any light debris from motor.

Only thing that has me concerned is I didn't spec the cam journals.
