Ok so before I get in to the problem, let me give you some background... I drive a 2005 st, the potentially related modifications include, a hard-wired gps (power comes from cig lighter circuit), and an upgraded in chassis ground (8guage).

I usually drive with my phone plugged in to the cig lighter, and the gps on (the same circuit). After the chassis ground upgrade, when ever the car is at idle, with the gps and phone charger connected, the fuse for the radio-ignition turn on and the gauge cluster blows. (a completely different circuit).

Im stumped, tearing apart EVERYTHING tonight and hoping to see something. Any thoughts?

jk my bad, it was behind the cluster some where. The smoke was coming out from the defrost vents on the drivers side and underneath the steering column.

I switched back the the factory chassis ground yesterday. Sense then it will only blow a fuse if the gps is on... i find out where it connected at.

GPS & Phone BOTH take minimal current when operating...

They can only cause an issue if the wiring TO them is shorting out....
