Welcome to the board! I think that harness is installed on all Focus...I think they meant for the Airbags/heated seats in the SVT?

It tells the airbag where your seat is (how far back) and also it is the plug that lets the car know you have your seatblet buckled in or not... unplug that connector and your "seatbelt minder" goes off next time you're in the car.

So even cars with no power options still have the plugs, there's one under your passenger seat too.

If you unhook this the seat position sensor, the feature which controls the force with which the air bag deploys, will likely not work.

It would not see wise to do this. If a smaller person, with the seat set forward ,were to be injured due to the air bag deploying too forcefully as a result of your disconnecting the seat sensor, I suspect you would wish to rethink your actions.

On a practical basis, I strongly suspect that disconnecting this will result in a system fault and give you an airbag warning, perhaps even preventing air bag deployment (although I suspect that rather than preventing any airbag deployment, the system likely defaults to the "low power" setting, but who knows?).

I believe the owner's manual specifies a proceedure to turn off at least a portion of the seat belt warning alarm system. Check the Owner's Manual, it involves clicking and unclicking the seat belt 9 nine times in a preset sequence. This might be the best compromise if you find the seat belt warning system irritating.

Unplugging the seat will turn on the airbag light, and Soaper it will not stop the seatbelt minder, it will make it go off constantly every time, because the car doesn't know if your belt is buckled or not.

Like penguin mentioned, check your manual, or the How-to archive here (see link in my sig) to make the seatbelt dinging go away... much safer and more effective than unplugging your seat wiring harness.

Sorry, I might be offtopic, but under the passenger seat I see a 5 pin connector that has only 2 pins wired. I guess that is the CD changer connector, but I didn't find anything about it even in Ford TIS. I have the 5000RDS without the changer and I want to install an Alpine CHA634 mp3-cd changer . If that's the OEM cd changer connector can anyone tell me the pinout (power, audio left/right....) ? On the connector I see this : AMP 98 AG14498-LKA PBT-GF15 699346

A 5pin connector? The only connector that comes factory is the seat connector, and its a 10-pin connector (5 pairs) for the seat, usually with only 1 or 2 pairs wired). Did your car originally come with a CD-changer?

Same harness under 2010 SES ZX4

I was wondering if this harness has the same functionality on the later models like the 2010. I need to disconnect it temporarily to take the seats out to clean the carpet. I just can't figure out how to disengage it. I don't wanna break it. It looks complicated to disconnect.

wiring harness under drivers seat

This is my first time to this forum, and i have a question about the wire harness under my drivers seat. I was detailing my car and noticed that there are several wires that are broke off that are coming out of the wire harness, my air bag light has been on for a while and i wonder are the two things connected? If so can I purchase a new one or fix the old one and if I did replace it what is it really called? I would appreciate any feed back. Thanks

First, I applaud your use of the search.
Second, welcome!
Third, are the wires spit where you can spice them back together or are they pulled completely out of the plug? If they are pulled all the way out you may be able to get a new one but its probably a dealer item.

Dog chewed through both sides...

I take my pit around in my 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 hatchback. Left her a minute too long one day and she chewed through the under seat wiring harness under both seats. Now my seatbelt chime does not chime and my airbag warning light is on all the time. I'd like to just replace the harness that goes under the seats on both sides. Having a hell of a time finding the parts. Has anybody done the legwork already and willing to help a guy out?

Good idea looking at prior threads, but it is better if you start a new one in the right sub forum.
General Technical Chat or maybe Ford Focus First Generation.

Wrecking yards or Craigslist parting out a car, longshot Ebay.
Good Luck!
