I had to get the six speaker sound system with my SE.

Does anybody know if the SE was wired for Subwoofer? If I add a SW will
my SE system have enough power to make the SW worthwhile?

I could be incredibly stupid but I think you would have to add an amp to power the subwoofer.

people have looked for pre-wiring for other things and not found any in the car, chances are, not. saves ford some money but not doing "wire for everything" jobs.

Guess I'll have to poke around back there and see what I can find.

I had a 84 Civic CRX, and Honda had pre-wired the back for additional speakers.

Wouldn't Ford save money by using only one cable to wire these cars?
A cable that had all the connectors for all the options?

I took mine in to Best Buy and was told they'd have to tap the speakers in order to run subs, or any additional speakers...

and Yes, you will have to get an amp to run a good subwoofer

I can always get my kid to ride in the very back and pound the back window
with his fist, to the beat of the music. Probably sound the same.

No it doesn't come pre-wired. I put a sub in mine and I needed to tap the speaker wires for the amp. I chose to use an "all in one" band-pass sub rated for 80watts; much less expensive and far less detrimental to the cars electrical system than most setups. I know 80 watts doesn't sound like much, but trust me its quite sufficient. Now if you're the kind of person who wants to see windows shaking on buildings you drive by you'l be disappointed, but If you're like me and just want a little more oomph you'll be more than satisfied.

One more thing, it doesnt matter how "weak" a system is; as long as your amp(you MUST buy one if you don't buy a powered sub) is strong enough for the sub you choose you'll be fine. Just make sure you don't overdo it....nobody likes blinking headlights[histerical]

sorry for highjacking your thread but on a slightly related note, are the tweeter boxes on the front pillars empty for an SE if you just have an SE sport without sync and all? Is it easy to buy tweeters and put them in? Does it even make a difference?

I tawt I heard them tweeting, since I got the six speaker system on my
SE Sport. I haven't had time to look to see where two back speakers are.
I hear the two in the front doors, and the tweeters.
