i am getting some winter beaters for my SVT. they are 05 ST rims 16x6, my question is, i am going to be running AGXs and H&R race springs, will i rub with 205/50/16? or should i go with 205/45/16?

you should be fine with 205/50. I am running sportlines which is a 2F 2.2R with 205/55/16 which is .6" bigger diameter than the 205/50

That'll be a great setup.
You might even be able to fit the 205/55's (closer match to SVT tire diameter) with the high offset ST wheels.

Too bad it's not a local shop where you're getting the tires,
because most will test mount one up so you could check the clearance.

According to the tire generator I was just looking at, 215/50/16 is almost dead on to the size of the SVT tire; 215/45/17.

You are correct, however...
205 is a much better width for a winter tire.
You wan't tall and skinny, to cut through the snow, and aid in steering.
Not short and fat that will ride up on top of it like a toboggan.

I run KYB GR-2 with Eibach Sportlines and it sits quite low and I don't get any rubbing with mine.

You are very lucky....GR2's are a great shock but are a long OEM replacement shock and are not designed for lower and stiffer springs (especially sportlines!). You must be a very easy going driver. How long have you been using them.
