thats not gonna work, the breakdown of tire size

215- width of the tire in MM
55- is 55% of 215 to make up the hight of the sidewall
and 17 is the rim size

the stock size for the svt is 215/45/17 so the 215/55 is 10% taller than the stock size, and it will be rubbin the fender all day until it finally goes pop

that one is gonna be close, im not sure if it will or not, i know of guys on here running 225/40 and 225/35 but once again the side wall might be too tall, thats one would be a close call

I don't get it. but then again im doing math that i dont know is the right formula. Take the stock size for example 215/45/17 215 divided by 100 = 2.15 multiply that by 45 and you get 96.75.... 215/55...= 85.25. Isnt that a smaller wall?

i know 22mm doesnt sound like much, and when the car is parked it will fit but once you start going over bumps and what not, the travel of the suspension will be too great and the tire will rub

225/45/17 worked on my car:

That size is a hit or miss though.
While I didn't experience any rubbing, others have and again some others haven't.
I suspect, I'm just traveling lighter, as my interior is always cleaned out, and I rarely have passengers.

Why exactly are you wanting to go to a taller size?

Oh, and 205/55/16 is no problem at all.
A lot of us SVTF owners use that size for winter tires.
