i need more traction. what is the widest wheels/tires i can get on my car?

im thinking 16x7.5s and 225/40s.. depending on the tire, that should give me another 1.5inches of tread width..

what do you guys think?

What rims are you running? becuase my EAP rims allow me to run a max of 225.... I'm thinking that it should be ok....but again I could be wrong.

The recommended size for the EAPs are 205-215's though.

right now i have 17x7s on it..

im lookin at some tires.. i thinking maybe some 225/45/17s.. little taller but if i roll the fenders it should be okay

225/45/17's should be fine depending on your suspension. If you have loose springs then you're most likely to want to rool the fenders, but if you have lets say coilovers and somesway bars you should be fine w/ 225's IMO.
