Is the warranty really expired on your car after 2 years?
No, bumper to bumper is 3 or 36 months....interesting is TCM is 8 yrs or 80k but hard to get dealer to admit something is wrong with TCM once bumper to bumper is expired

the TCM likely will never break. Of course a lot of mechs will say the TCM is broken when it's actually a mechanical thing, because it's more profitable to sell a new TCM. (since installation is easy) And then once the TCM has 100 miles on it and the computer has adapted to the trans, all the problems come back and when you complain the mech says "I thought it was the TCM, sorry, by the way it's non-returnable"
At most you may want to get it firmware updated.

If your car is one of the affected ones, then you need to schedule a seal replacement appointment - some dealers are now scheduling them 3-4 months out the demand is so high.

Carol had an intermittent won't shift (out of gear) issue with the "parking fault" warning that disappears once shut off. Often TCM from some seen here.
Morphed into a won't start (possible same cause) but complicated by a remote starter from a different model installed by cut & splice when initially sold by the Dealer.
Currently showing communication codes, remote starter removed, and some harness replacement done per Ford suggestion. No resolution yet & it's at a second Dealer for another look.
TCM includes the shifting motors on these (clutch actuators separate) and with it failing to shift (plus that being the only warranty item officially) replacing it is a question/possible solution.
Continuing to replace harnesses seems to be the current guess, before trying a different TCM.
