Crazy newbie question, I know, but I do not see any dipstick to pull to check my transmission fluid. And I'm getting different stories about flushing the fluid vs. replacing it, and of course different prices from repair places.

My engine came from Ford Racing Parts, Zetec, in a 2001 ZX3.

What's the skinny on this? Thanks

Well if it's a auto, it should be right in the front near the air filter housing. if it's a manual trans then you dont have one.

they have a check plug instead. There really is no reason the fluid should get low unless you have a leak. Changing the fluid is very easy. On a manual you do not do a flush you do a drain and fill. basically pull the check plug first, then pull the drain plug, drain out fluid, put drain plug back in, and then fill it with 2qrts of manual trans fluid through the check plug. once the fluid starts to drip out of the check plug it's full. that's it.

Since the Forum is preventing me from PMing a Seller in buy-sell-trade, because I don't have enough posts, until I spam the Forum with useless post:

I wish they'd just give you a dipstick on manual. The cars are low to the ground & if you are having a clutch problem, you may not have a choice about where it is... but they certainly aren't likely to change this, now.
