I'm in the process of doing the prep work prior to installing an in dash navigation unit. So far, I've soldered the radio leads to the (aftermarket) harness and the next thing I want to do is install the GPS antenna and run the wire to the radio location.

Has anyone done this before? Where did you mount your GPS antenna? I've looked around a bit and didn't really find a good spot to place it. I was thinking perhaps under the pillar trim (guess that's what you call it) on the driver's side.

Anyway, I'm looking for some suggestions. Let me know where you think it would be a good idea to mount it.

GPS Location

I have an 04 Wagon w/Cardroid installed. Obviously stuck in the dash it wasn't getting good signal. (Especially because I had to remove the case backing of the tablet). So I got a 3.7V GPS antenna, with like 30ft of wire and ran it into the engine bay up to the hood so it sits dead center of the hood closest to the center of the car. It has no problem locking on to 14+ satellites within 3 seconds.
