So I'll be removing my ugly side moldings to paint them. Knowing me, I'll leave them off because I'm lazy when it comes to painting and prep work.

Anyway I know they'll be some residue of the two-way sticky tape left on the doors, what can I use that won't be too harsh on the paint or clear coat?

i would use goo gone or clay bar.

rain-x. remove all the tape then put rain-x on the glue. it will remove it and not hurt your paint. it is the best for removing tree sap.
