Hi everyone! Just picked up my first focus about a month and a half ago. 2012 Focus SE hatchback with 5 speed. Bought from the original owner and absolutely love it so far! Hoping to spend lots of time browsing to get ideas and see what others have done.
Welcome! It depends on your taste, but when I had my mk3 I snagged a set of the titanium 'blacked out' headlights and the newer titanium style wheels. A window tint, polish and wax goes a long way for looks too.

Pic of my old mk3 for reference

Nice! Those wheels and headlights look great! Thanks for the tip. I’m definitely going to give it a buff job. Just gotta pick up a nicer buffer first. Any suggestions on a couple good brands reasonably priced?

I have a Bauer brand oscillating polisher from harbor freight. They're fairly inexpensive as far as they go. It doesn't have to be high end or classy, just make sure it has speed control.

Harbor Freight also sells different types of pads too which is important for whatever you get.

Hi all,
I've got a 2014 Focus SE manual that I drove new off the lot. Starting to have some issues now that it's past the 100k mark, and Google led me here.
Welcome to all the newcomers!

Hi everyone!

I recently bought a Focus 1.6 2004. It's a mk1.5 from the Brazilian market.
Found here while searching for information about engine swaps since I'm planning in swap my 1.6 8v zetec rocam (I dont know if the brazilian 1.6 are the same as the rest of the world), to a 2.0 16v Duratec due to a problem with overheating (from the previous owner).
It will be a long project. But I love it and want to keep it for a long time :)

Nice, I honestly love the look of the 'original' mk1. We got 2 updates to the mk1 in the states but the original mk1 front-end is still my favorite. Do you have easy access to the 2.5L duratec? The engine platform is the same as the 2.0L and I can attest personally that it's well worth it.

The DCT is certainly pretty polarizing. My personal opinion is that they're really not worth the trouble. Don't mean to rain on your parade, but you'll probably receive a lot of the same sentiment here. It helps though if you know how to drive a manual to maintain some of the same habits, such as not creeping and whatnot.

Thanks for the advice! I will look into it.
Here in Brasil the 2.5L engines only equipped the Fusion and the Ranger. Maybe I can find something but I'll have to do some research on the maintenance prices. Maybe it's affordable! I'll let you know :)
Unfortunately in the brazilian market we only have small engines. It's kinda rare to see something goes past the 2.0L from the factory. It's only avaliable to high end cars like Fusion (believe me Ford fusions here are way too expensive). Ford was the only one to make bigger engines here, but ford just left our country due to the catastrophic presidente we had for the past 4 years and how he left our economy.
The Focus mk1 versions we have are only 1.6 zetec, 1.8 zetec, 2.0 zetec and 2.0 duratec. We dont have svt and none of the other fun versions. 😔

Yes i was told by many people to take it back when i was purchased it lol...its a little complicated i got it for free plus 4k cash with it ill explain more some day....its the first car that ive owned that dont have a dipstick to check transmisson lvls but i change transmission fluid regularly....but yes i understand a little about how annoying this transmission can be....thanks for reminder.
Hi, Dad who bought his 18 year old a 2015 Focus SE Sport. Clean Car 58k miles. Owned a 2013 Ford Escape so lots of technical similarities and hoping he enjoys his new car.
Hello, my name is Keaton and I have problems! My wife has a 2012 Ford Focus SEL sedan. We now live in an extremely wet climate in southeast Alaska. Dealing with water pooling in the floor of the car, center console screen will not turn on, ABS and Traction control dash lights come on/off intermittently, and the trunk will not electrically open (Currently have a rope tied to the emergency pull handle coming through the backseat to open the trunk manually). If anyone out there has any advice or is willing to point me in the right direction, you will be my hero.
Hi all, my name is Leo. 2013 Ford Focus MK3 with 1.6 duratec ti-vct bought new in 2013. After many trouble free years (90k miles) I want to start working on it myself. The absolute worst part of owning this car is trying to work with the dealer, of which there is only 1 in my country.
Hey guys I’m Wes i drive a matte black zx3. I’m here trying to figure out a transmission issue. Look for my post and help me as much as you can
Howdy, just got a 2006 focus zx4 se a few weeks ago, and found this forum while I was looking for info on mods for the car. It's just about stock right now, and for the most part that's how I plan on keeping it performance wise, but I do plan on some small things like wheels and such. Well, that, and welding in some new outer rockers (fun, right?) and painting 'er. Anyways, my buddies usually just call me *******, but my name's steve, and I figured it was about time to make an account.
That's uh. That's supposed to be the first part of my username there.
Hi. I have a 2012 Ford Focus S. I have been slowly learning it since getting it in February. Right now she is not running. Hopefully I can get Smokey back running soon. I fell in love with her when I seen her on the lot and my friend bought her for me. He gave me the options of 3 cars and 2 were focus and mine was the stick so I went with her.
