I'm taking my girlfriend on a trip next weekend (17th to 19th) to the Boston area. I was wondering if any of you guys here have any good, decently-priced ($150/night tops) hotels within decent driving distance of the main areas of Boston.

Also, what are some good areas of Boston to visit? I visited about 5 years ago looking at schools, but haven't been back since.

Thanks. [thumb]

in boston?

theres the Habah!

jk..

theres not really a ton of cool stuff downtown, theres Fannuel Hall and Quincy Market, its where the Cheers bar is. Theres the Aquarium. Theres the freedom trail in the North End. Harbor Cruises in the Financial district. Shopping wise theres Downtown Crossing, then theres geeky things like the MFA, or the Science Museum.

That weekend is kinda light on events, most of the big things in the city are closed down by now, unfortunately.

South of the city? Theres a lot of smaller towns that may have smaller things going on. North, im not sure, its rare that im north of the city. we do have a foci meet on sunday at mohegan sun tho ;) its a good 2 hours from boston but its a casino, and theres lots of foci, and... well.. do you need anything else?

i can look into hotels and see whats poppin on that front if you need anymore help.

My girlfriend is only 20 so she couldn't get in the casino, unless you guys don't go in there? We could definitely swing by.. it's on the way home (NY).

We're not looking for tourist things to do.. we're not really into that stuff, more like what can a local do and where can they do it. Museum and aquarium sound good, though.

We went to Toronto and basically just walked around and shopped. Didn't do anything touristy.

We won't go in the casino to gamble. We'll be going to the buffet and probably the big arcade. Check out the main Mohegan Sun meet thread for more info.

When I went to Boston with my friends, we went to this karaoke place..I don't remember the name of it, but it was within walking distance of the Boston University area. You get a whole room to yourself so you can just go nuts on thousands of songs. It was pretty cool.
