as of late, my 52 plate 1.6 zetec has started to run a bit lumpy in low gears, like it's got kangaroo juice in it! have changed the plugs & HT leads but still no better. also has started to use a lot of petrol now, any help from anyone is most welcome. thanks.

Check the coil pack plug-in. You might also want to look closer at the spark plugs you removed, or remove the ones you just installed and look for deposits.

Are you experiencing any check engine lights? A continuous misfire, for example, will cause the CEL to flash while it's misfiring. A misfire that isn't continuous will just give you a solid CEL.

Depending on mileage, this could be a sign of a bad timing belt.

Right on on the coil pack as a possibility - you might have a defective coil in the pack and a scanner will show you which cylinder is misfiring - pulling plugs should then confirm that one (or more) is not getting enough spark. Good luck.[rolleyes]

thanks for the help guys, no engine light as yet, so will change the coil pack.
will keep you in the loop to see how it pans out.[cheers]
