when i put my cams in do i need a new valve cover gasket?

you should always replace the gasket whenever the cover valve cover is removed. some people didn't change it and had no problems, but might as well do it to be safe.

id change it, the gaskets arent that great to begin with, many leak, if its going to be apart you might as well, its a cheap part and not worth the hassle if you dont get a proper seal with the old one.

where can you buy the valve cover gasket? and how much aprox?

They go for anywhere from $35-50 at the dealer, some auto parts stores carry them for less. When mine was leaking I cleaned it and applied a thin bead of black RTV on both sides of the gasket, and three months later I have no leaks and a far better seal than a new gasket would provide, plus a small tube of black RTV goes for about $8 at an autoparts store.
