I have an '03 SVT. I am not a mechanic by any means so excuse me if I dont seem to know anything! but I am just wondering if any 1/4 gains or power can be made from the following.

If I switched out my old valve springs and put in some stronger once to raise my rev limit so I can rap out a little higher in each gear. Would this help my 1/4?

This is an old trick I have read about in lots of car magazines, switching out a thermostat...I am not exactly sure how it is supposed to work...
Is it supposed to get my engine to run colder or hotter?
Is there any real gains to be made doing this mod?
Will it mess up my car in the winter?

Tom from Focus-Power recommended I switch to a 180 degree thermostat. I have not done so yet, but eventually I'll probably get round to it.

AFA the springs, I think you'd also have to reflash your ECU to raise the rev limit - first though it would probably behoove you to dyno your car to see if it's still making power at it's current rev limit.

The valve springs are already quite cabable in the SVTF.
That's one of the reasons the limit is set at 7,300, which is quite a bit higher than the standard models.
FWIW, the valve train is good for 8,000+ already.
It's the oil pump that's the weak link.
Not recommended for repeated use past 7,600.
