Coming home from work the other day i started the car drove about 1 mile stopped at a light i noticed smoke poring out from under the hood. Drove about another 1/2 to a diner and opened the hood and reaked of oil burning on the header.

Ive noticed oil leaking from around the valve cover for a while now but just wondering if anyone has see a gasket ever completely break in a section. I have not had the chance to check anything out yet due to working 12 hour days but i will be tackling it in the AM. I checked the oil and i was about 1 qt low, no coolant lose though.

what is your mileage? i know when i noticed oil leaking from mine and checked the gasket it was almost completely flattened and wasn't doing much good, check all your valve cover bolts make sure they are tight mine were also loose 1 quart seems like a lot to lose though

yah 1 quart is alot of oil to come out from the valve cover...ido you check it often??? you can pull the valve cover off and check it out...i think the gaskets like 15 bucks.....do you have your dipstick in place?

The valve cover gasket is cheap and extremely easy to change. It is literally easier than changing your oil. If you have never changed it, yours is problably very brittle and flattened, just pick up a new one and install it!
