Now that I've updated my Nokia N920 to Windows 8.1, I no longer have the texting ability in my Focus. It was working just fine until 8.1 :(

Well, this is all Windows 8.1 related. I was in our other car, and it no longer works in that car as well.

But the Nokia Lumia N920 worked well in the Focus (and the Mercedes) - until Windows 8.1 upgrade. So, Microsoft strikes again.

I know it wasn't on the list, but my N920 worked great in the Focus. It would read and respond to text messages without issue. It's the reason I switch and dumped the iPhone 4S I had. And then the upgrade came out from AT&T for Windows 8.1 and that feature is gone. In both cars :(

Hi Woggy64,

I checked our compatibility chart for SYNC and MyFord Touch, and I show that this phone is not compatible with the texting feature. Since you stated it worked before you updated it, please try deleting your phone from SYNC and SYNC from your phone, then re-pair them. Here are the instructions:

SYNC (Tip #3) - http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/troubleshooting-sync

MyFord Touch (Tip #3) - http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/troubleshooting-sync-myford-touch

Well, I can now report that a Nokia Lumia N920 running Windows Phone 8.1 will work now.

I found someone who was in the same situation, and he resolved it by deleting the phone in both cars....then doing a factory reset on the phone.

automatic reading of texts and able to reply back is now back working in both cars for me.

The reset of the phone did however render a few apps to become dead...no longer supported on 8.1.
