Hey out there, I just bought a o3 zx3 SVT and get it on Monday/Tuesday.
I'm already looking for perfomance parts, fist on my list was a drop in fillter(k&n),
then an underdrive pulley.
I havent noticed anyone who has said anything about them(UDP) in all my surfing this moning.
Is it a Hastle to instal, void waranty?
Just wondering cause my old car an 87escort GT I removed the power steering alltogether but left the rack with capped pipes. I got used to the stiff steering at parking lot speed and loved the quick and responsive steering, not to mention the incredible amount of power it freed up.
The new car feels to easy to turn.
sounds dumb but I realy liked it(no one else ever wanted to drive[:p]

Any way thanks fo any imput

I got mine from the dealer. Ford Racing UDP for $105.plus it comes with a new belt.No biggie changing if you have access to "air". You need to grind down the plastic cover tho or the belt will rub.

I have the FocusSport UDP, its nice and for $110.00 you cant really go wrong. I notice a gain with the low end, which made me happy.

Do you know if its really that big of a gain and does it void warranty?

I'd like to see a dyno sheet that shows an 8 horse gain at the wheels from a set of pulleys. I find that very hard to believe.

I'm pretty sure its more like 4 to 5 HP from the pullies, and 7 HP and 9 lbs torque from the ORP. And someone who bought the Focus Builders Handbook, said it had dyno sheets that confirmed those #'s (I cant remember which forum that guy was on, I think it was MFF). [thumb]

If you happen to view focussport Web page you will see that on most performance parts they offer a dyno sheets, so that you can review the dyno results yourself. [;)]

Anyone know where I can find a dyno sheet showing an 8 horse gain at the wheels from a set of pulleys? I'd like to see it for myself.

I'll check out focussport to see if they have it.

No...cuz you won't find a trustworthy dyno sheet for the zetec showing that kind of gain...unless it is highly modified. It doesn't matter what a company quotes on their webpage...numbers will vary from car to car and from dyno to dyno...not to mention where they are finding that gain (peak, largest gain, at a specific rpm...). Seriously, 4-5 whp is about right in most circumstances. Besides, the 4 or 5 hp is nice, but it is the increased throttle response you really feel when you step on it.

i honestly doubt any UDP will gain 8whp on our cars. each manufactured udp will show similar gains on different cars, they are all a same size reduction and weight reduction from stock so numbers shouldnt vary from car to car like with cam gears. other mods shouldnt too directly affect the gains of a udp also. its a good bang for the buck though. not a very expensive mod we're talkin here

To answer your question about voiding your warranty. All the mods you mention will void your warranty so be careful. I would suggest you keep all your factory components and if something does F***k up you just reinstall the factory stuff and tell the dealership I don't know what happend [scratch]

essveetee,

That's where I was headed with this discussion...no one will be able to show me where to find a reliable dyno sheet showing an 8 horse gain at the wheels because one does not exist, and if it does it's been messed with by a manufacturer selling the part to look the way they want it too. I would be suspect of even 4 to 5 at the wheels. Maybe 5 at the engine...but not at the wheels.

Yeah, I hear ya. Basically, it comes down to two things: reduction of polar inertia (mass reduction...and where it is reduced--towards the center or near the edge?) and underdriving. You can only gain so much in these two departments before you are only wasting money.

Yeah, definitely would void your warrenty. About 8hp gain, highly doubt that. I got maybe 3hp if I'm lucky from it from the last dyno I had.
