Hey folks. I wanted to ask for some info on the typical operating temp of an SPI engine. Tonight on the way home from work, and after driving about 45mi. at 60-65mph I was watching the live data on my scan tool and the coolant temp was pretty steady at 180F* and even dipped down at one point to 176F*. Now, to me this seems to be a little on the cold side. Am I wrong in thinking this? I would think it should be at least around 190F* even though the ambient temp is about 32F* here right now. Could my coolant temp sensor be wrong? Would this cause my fuel economy to suffer? Thanks for the help folks!

True solid cold can hold the overall temp down a bit, it does here in Texas on mine. Do that check on say a 70-80 degree day and then decide.
