Don't install a MBC on a modern turbo car with an ECU-controlled ECBS. At the least you'll throw check engine codes as the ECU aims for specific boost targets it can't hit, worst you'll pop the motor. The electronic boost control strategy on these are far better than what you can achieve with a manual valve.

The technician needs it to adjust the new turbo. Because even though it is new, check engine appeared.

He said that it can increase power a bit. Not like a tune/remap.

In this case for turbo adjustment.

Turbo was changed after some issues.

There is another issue then, and a manual boost controller is not going to fix the issue. What was the check engine code?

These ECUs use torque targets, not boost targets, unless tuned. You can take boost control away from the ECU, crank it up, and the ECU will then close the throttle plate to limit boost and throw a code. I would find a new mechanic if they are telling you whatever problem you have with an OEM turbo is going to be fixed with a manual boost controller.

The code was about low turbo pressuse.
The technician adjusted turbo by putting little metal layers in order to increace turbo boost.
These had something to do about the distance of the valve or the wastegate.

Did they put in the wrong turbocharger(for a lower hp model) and this is some attempt at a workaround?

That is why turbosmart is about to be installed.
The technicians says that he has it on his car.
It is efficient.
Never would tune/remap it again after all those issues.
Should turbosmart increase performance even just a bit.

No, it's going to cause issues. It will not get you any more power.

Have you checked for boost leaks?

Sounds like shimming the wastegate to pull it tighter (wastegate preload).
Yes something it seems something like that.
This was the only mechanic who solved the problem.
Others didnt care or just said theories.
There were many problems and the car was for about a month in the workshop.

What diagnostics did the mechanic do to resort to shimming the wastegate to help solve low boost issue?

I would run a new hose from the solinoid right to the wastegate actuator and see if its not a leak on the hardline.

Via obd gate, mechanical investigation and many road tests.
The problem solved only by putting those metal layers.
It was the only mechanic who spent so much time.
Others didnt even bother to examine it or couldnt do anything.
Because there were other issues also.

Fwiw, the video posted had the vacuum pump(actually just the check valve) as the culprit for his codes.

Commenting for others coming to this thread later on. The vacuum pump check valve is discussed here:
