So i in about a month I'm getting turboed, so I need to know what is the benefit and draw back of a external and internal wastegate. I'm going to only boosting at 8psi max till I get my pistons replaced

you will need rods too with those pistons.

and i beleive externals have better control and flow better then internals.

next question does your turbo have an internal wastegate?

internals are built into the housing and if it doesn't have one you must use an external.

if you already have an internal wastegate turbo then just use that till you build the engine and go higher boost.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that external wastegates don't lend themselves to boost creep as easily(?) This would be why you will see downpipes with a divourced wastegate pipe for turbos that are internally wastegated.

Yes, EWGs flow better than IWG and it's harder to have a spike (though still possible).
