I’m ready to take the full plunge on a turbo build for my MK3.5, and I was wondering if I could get some feedback from members who have gone this route. I’m thinking about tom’s DIY kit with a Holset HX35 and built short block with Radium Engineering Fuel Bar or Stratified Xtra 2 aux fueling. I really want to push the envelope on what this chassis specifically, and maybe inspire someone to build their MK3 too.

Anyway, I have a couple of questions:

-Does the DIY kit from Tom come with a down pipe?

-should I use HPTuners, SCT, or some type of standalone?

-what racing seat is good for tall dudes?

Pick whatever flasher the tuner you're going to use wants. Unless you're self tuning, then SCT or HP Tuners. I would only go standalone if there was no flash option available.

Height matters, but also waist size for racing seats.

Regarding the HX35... if want to actually enjoy driving the car, get a better turbo. For the rest of the money you're spending on this, you can do better than a junkyard diesel turbo that'll start spooling over 3k. GTX Gen 2, G series, BW EFR, etc.

**** Yes it does

You want to use SCT and i can remote Tune it , if you have DCT HPTuner wont work they have nothing for the DCT Auto

I would use the GT2871R Turbo like what comes in my Kit , good spool and you will get to upper 300`s , with the bigger trim over 400 whp

Stay away from the band-aid secondary fuel injection and do it right , there is 1700 and 3000 Injectors out there now and bigger HPFP out now

I have a 2013 SE 2.5 Swapped Turbocharged making just over 400 whp

Thanks for the feedback Tom!
I had a feeling that going with an antiquated turbo would be hamstringing my self a bit.

if I run the 1700cc injectors, should I also upgrade the hpfp? What about the in-tank?
